Jaehyun's eyes flutter open as the sun peeks through the blinds. His left arm loosely wrapped around Taeyong's waist while his right arm is folded underneath his head. He smiles sweetly as he sees the older still fast asleep, but the smile drops as a painful headache comes in.

Laying there with Taeyong reminds Jaehyun of the past, the painful memories of being with his ex-lover flow in. They would always fight, accuse one another of cheating, and always kept to themselves, never opening up about their struggles. Those three examples were the most common, though mostly anything toxic imaginable surely occurred within their relationship, too.

They were the definition of a toxic relationship, though they've always covered everything up for the media. Their fake smiles plastered upon their faces as they linked their hands tightly together while news about them made headlines.

The fresh couple has just revealed themselves, thought neither of their companies have confirmed their relationship.

The trending couple broke up about a month into the relationship, catching the media by surprise. They don't explain the cause, angering fans of both JFEC and NewStep. But, all is soon forgotten, since Jungwoo gets into a more happier, healthier relationship with a fellow Co-Worker, Kim Dongyoung, that is still going strong to this day.

Despite the relationship turning sour, it still affected Jaehyun's life for the better. He became more independent, more focused on his health and prioritized himself before others. It's seems extremely selfish, but he's struggled with taking care of himself for years.

With all the positives that came his way, many more negatives flowed in as well. The biggest change was that he undertook a heavy drinking problem. It was his attempt to forget all the pain that Jungwoo has ever brought down upon him, though it didn't help much. Jaehyun was a bit of an alcoholic beforehand, drinking every now and then, but his past relationship with the model led him straight to bars every night.

All these past memories overwhelm Jaehyun, causing him to get an even bigger headache. He slowly removes himself from Taeyong's side, trying to keep him sound asleep for as long as possible. He finds his phone on the floor, seeing missed calls from his fellow JFEC Co-Owner. Multiple messages were left unopened as well, saying Jaehyun needs to come in to work that day.

The phone is at 3%, though it'll be enough for a singular phone call. It rings, rings, rings, and finally, the other line picks up.

"Hello-" The voice buzzes through Jaehyun's ear, making him cringe at how loud it is.

"Hey, dude, sorry I can't-"

"You have reached the voice-" Jaehyun ends the call, his slow brain realizing it's just the default voice messenger talking. He sighs in defeat and heads for the bedroom door, forgetting Taeyong is still fast asleep.

As Jaehyun is grabbing the door knob, Taeyong begins to stir in his sleep, as if he was having a bad dream. Jaehyun's head snaps in the older's direction, getting worried at what's troubling him. He closes the window blinds as he makes his way back to his side of the bed, blocking out the sun from lighting up the room.

Jaehyun gets under the covers just as he was a few minutes ago, but this time he wraps his left arm tightly around Taeyong's waist. The older is put at ease as he feels the younger's grip around him, the nightmare escaping his mind. Jaehyun sighs in relief as Taeyong continues to lightly snore peacefully in his arms.

Knowing well that this isn't more than just a friendship (as if he could even call it that), Jaehyun can't help but feel a weird connection with Taeyong. It's cliché of him to think this, as they've literally only just met the night before, but Jaehyun is prone to making close friends instantly.

Looking back on the night, Jaehyun hasn't had that much fun since his experimental relationships back in high school, which happened over seven years ago. He never smiled like that with Jungwoo, or honestly, with anyone. He never laughed like that, ran around like that, enjoyed a night like that.

Jaehyun can feel himself falling into a typical teenage romance drama you can find on Netflix, but he can't help himself. It's not his fault he likes himself better with Taeyong than with any other person. Anyone can call him cheesy as much as they'd like, he knows it all too well and already had bad pick-up lines forming in his head.

Jaehyun's eyes gently close, putting him into dream land. His grip never loosens around Taeyong's waist, as if he's protecting him at all times.

It's safe to say that neither of them showed up for work that day.
