Gordie POV

As we approached the Little Rock Salvage, we were greeted by a high chain link fence and behind it, was a large amount of wrecked cars. At the sight, Adelaide said,

"Hey, Vern, looks like your ma's been out drivin' again."

Vern sarcastically replied with,

"Ah that's so funny I forgot to laugh."

Teddy "cocked" his sleeping bag and threw it over the side yelling,

"Stand back, men! Paratroops over the side!"

Teddy and Vern started climbing over and jumped over, as I started my climb.  Beneath me, I could see Adelaide struggle up. She would stick her non messed up foot through the fence, and then Chris, (who was beside her), would use his leg to push her up the fence. After a few of these maneuvers, they succeeded. Chris jumped down, and he caught Adelaide when she pushed herself off the fence.

No Trespassing was enforced by Milo Pressman, the junk man, and his dog Chopper. The most feared and least seen dog in Castle Rock. Legend had it that Milo had trained Chopper not just to sic, but to sic specific parts of the human anatomy. Thus a kid who had illegally scaled the junkyard fence might hear the dread cry: 'Chopper, sic balls!!' But right now neither the dread Chopper nor Milo was anywhere in sight.

As Teddy started running around all crazy and called to us to follow him, as I said,

"Man, Teddy's crazy."

The two nodded in agreement as they walked, still supporting eachother, as Adelaide said,

"Yeah."

Chris agreed and said,

"He won't live to be twenty I bet."

That jogged my memory and I said,

"Remember the time you saved him in the tree?"

Chris smiled and said,

"Yeah. You know I dream about that sometimes. Except in the dream I always miss him. I just get a couple of his hairs and down he goes. It's weird."

Adelaide frowned, and I said,

"Yeah. That's weird. You didn't miss him. Chris Chambers never misses, does he?"

Chris smiled, and elbowed Adelaide as he said,

"Not even when the ladies leave the seat down. Right Dolly?"

She smiled and shook her head in laughter as he continued,

"Hey, I'll race ya!"

I prank started formulating  and I decided that it would be fun. I decided to, and I started saying,

" No. I don't know."

Chris looked at me in disbelief and said,

"Right to the pump man, come on."

I kept talking,

"I'm -- I'm kind of tired,"

Then I dropped my sh*t and yelled,

"Go!"

I started running, and Chris dropped his shit and so did Adelaide, and he picked her up and started running, yelling,

"You're a dead man, Lachance!"

As we were racing, Adelaide started commentating in an annoucer voice saying,

"It looks like Lachance has got him this time. He's got Chambers' beat! But what's this? Chambers is making his move! Lachance is fading on it! Chambers at the tape! The crowd goes wild!"
