donghyuck sat on the edge of mark's bed, staring at his hands with his head low. he had been at the older's for around three hours at this point, unmoving, just sitting there, thinking.

the boy's apartment had been robbed and entirely trashed. all the windows had been broken, the door knobs as well. everything was turned over, pretty much all of minki and donghyuck's things were gone, including all the savings the younger had stored in case of an emergency. they no longer had anything anymore, and right now donghyuck just needed time to think. think about what on earth he was going to do next. he wondered why out of all places whoever robbed him decided to rob him. he didn't live in the rich neighborhoods, it was obvious to tell he had the bare minimum, so why just make it worse? why do that to the people already struggling? it's not like he had anything of value in there anyway.

donghyuck snapped out of it feeling a warm blanket draped over his shoulders.

"... do you need anything?" mark asked silently, taking a seat next to the younger. he hadn't checked up on him during the time they've been there, because the baby had become really fussy and frightened and sad realizing somebody destroyed the only home he had. it took a long while to calm minki down, but mark eventually did it and had him sleeping right behind donghyuck. now it was time to take care of his daddy, just like how minki wanted.

the younger shook his head, mark handing him a pair of his sweatpants and a big hoodie. ".. you can change into this for the night." mark whispered, donghyuck's eyes averting to the clothing in his hands. he slowly took the items from him, mindlessly standing up and dressing into them. the boy would've gone to the bathroom or something, but his mind was so jumbled with thoughts that leaving the room to change was really the last of his priorities. regardless, mark turned his head and looked back once donghyuck was dressed. he watched as the younger softly set his clothes down on the floor and sat back down, his expression unreadable.

mark delicately grabbed his chin and turned his head towards him, looking into his eyes for a moment then bringing him into his hold. the older grabbed at his waist, placing him on his lap with his legs on either side of him. "... first thing in the morning, we'll go back to your place and see if there's anything you can save. is that okay?" mark asked quietly, donghyuck just nodding his head and leaning into mark's body for his warmth. he circled his arms around mark's neck, sighing deeply and placing his head on his shoulder. they remained that way for a while, until mark heard his breathing slow and soften.

he moved himself cautiously so he wouldn't wake the sleeping boy up, and successfully ended up laying down. minki was next to him while donghyuck was pretty much on top of him, subconsciously cuddling further into his body and getting comfortable. it was really early in the morning, usually the time donghyuck would get up for work, but mark knew the younger was going to sleep a little more tonight. mark gently ran his fingers up and down donghyuck's back, kissing his cheeks here and there, slightly playing with his soft locks, all until he ended up falling asleep as well.

and in a few hours, the boy was awake again.

mark was the first one to wake up, turning to see both of the babies still sleeping soundly. the room was bright, sunlight entering in a generous amount. the older very silently got up, leaving a kiss on donghyuck and minki's foreheads and writing a quick note on a piece of paper he had on his nightstand letting them know that he had gone out to get breakfast. his house still remained basically without any food in it, so he didn't really have anything to give to them at the moment. and with that, the older quickly cleaned himself up, threw some shoes on, and left.
