INTRO.
At 20 years old, Romessa Bensaïd is nothing short of prodigious. In two years, she's given three TED Talks, been the keynote speaker of the famous Salesforce Convention, and spent several months working directly alongside Elon Musk to help develop his Tesla Cybertruck—all before graduating two years early from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In the months following her graduation, she decides to take a break from work and spend her time doing a personal project—leading her to stumble across a groundbreaking technological discovery that could alter the sports industry forever.
Directly after receiving a patent for her technology, Romessa faces a difficult challenge she never saw coming—deportation. Ordered out of the United States, she travels to Germany, where she's able to obtain a temporary work visa after accepting a position as a part-time lecturer at the Technical University in Dortmund.
During the time after his affair with Romessa, Marco Reus assumes the best form of his life. He's achieved numerous accomplishments with Borussia Dortmund; winning the league championships for two seasons in a row and winning gold at the 2020 World Cup with his national team. However, after a devastating ankle injury, the footballer finds himself desperate to get back to the pitch as soon as possible—particularly so that he can stop directing his bitter sentiments towards his wife.
When Marco demands the best recovery team that the league provides, he isn't expecting to see Romessa as a member of it. However, after successfully pitching her technology—a program which uses her algorithms to generate specialized training routines which optimize physical efficiency—Romessa is assigned to take on Marco Reus as her trial subject.
With Marco possessing the imminent desire to recover and Romessa desperately hoping to make a name for herself in the technological industry, the two of them know that avoiding one another is an option they don't have. As they're required to spend more and more time together for the sake of their own personal gain, old feelings and memories can't help but surface—and neither can the wounds they've reopened.
As the emotions Marco and Romessa feel for one another persist after years of suppression, one can't help but wonder: will they be able to do the right thing and stay away from each other, or are they simply bound to feel—and act upon—their enigmatic desire for one another?
