I go into the water and swim over to Samantha and Sapphire who are both cheerleaders.

"Hey guys" I say smiling at them. The frown slightly at me probably wondering why I'm over here with them and not with my usual group.

"Hey" They both say in unison sounding quite unsure as they say it. I laugh at them

"Its not like I'm a zombie or something. Don't sound so unsure" I say.

They continue to look at me weirdly so i decide that ill go hang out with Jase, Brody, Scarlett and Hannah even though Parker will be with them. I swim over to them now that they are in the water as well. They are playing volleyball in the water. I wonder where they got the ball from. I join into their circle trying to pick a spot where i will be far away from Parker.

The sky starts to get darker and the air starts to feel colder so we all head out of the water ad up to the campsite. I quickly get changed and go and sit by the fire that's been started. It has benches set up all around it and the campfire was in the middle. Pretty much everyone was already sitting down and the only available space was between Parker and Brody. For a second i think about sitting on the ground but decide against it because the ground is wet and cold. I begrudgingly sit in the available seat.

"Whats go you so sour today?" Brody asks me. I look at him and scowl.

"You invited Parker to spend the day with us" I say to him in an angry voice but quietly so only Brody could hear. Wouldn't want someone getting upset on the first day here now would we?

The teachers decide that its time for us all to go to bed but we all know that no one is tired. Someone comes up with the idea to go for a midnight swim. Everyone agrees and the plan is to pretend to go to bed and just stay awake until 12 and at 12 we will all go to the lake. Right now its 10 so we have a while to wait. We all go to our tents. our tent is set out like a plus sign so the plus part is walking space and the spaces between the sign has our beds in it. Hannah and scarlett had to share one spot but the rest of us each got a space to ourselves.

"Who has a good ghost story to tell while we wait?" Jase asks addressing us all obviously being bored and not wanting to just sit there for 2 hours doing nothing.

"I do" Brody replies cutting in before anybody else has the chance to.

"In my old apartment, my dog would, on occasion, look down the hallway towards the bedroom, from the living room, and growl, for no apparent reason. Also on occasion, when I was sleeping in the bedroom (she slept at the foot of the bed), I would wake up with her staring intently at the door and growling. She was a big girl - 140 pounds of Great Dane, Catahoula, and slobber.

So I'm there for a couple of years of this, thinking, ok, my dog has a good imagination.

Wrong. One night I woke up due not to my dog growling, but barking for all she was worth. And not at the door... she was barking straight at me. I opened my eyes pretty much immediately, and there was a blur of light, leaning over me, very close - certainly less than six inches from my face. It was not distinguishable as a person - it more resembled a person-sized version of a colourful nebula you might see a picture of in a science magazine. Three dimensional and all. I immediately got the distinct impression that this thing had been watching me sleep. For god knows how long, and how many times before. For all the clarity of that distinct feeling, I had no sense of what it wanted, whether it was malevolent or just curious. I flipped right the fuck out - jumped backwards to the other side of the bed, too terrified to scream, and that blur of light receded and disappeared over the course of about 3 seconds. My dog was going absolutely ape.

So, shortly thereafter, I asked the building manager if anybody had ever died there. She investigated that, and came back to me a couple of weeks later with a yes, a woman had died of a drug overdose in that apartment in 1995 (so 12 years earlier), shortly after having her child removed from her custody because of her addiction problems.

My dog did still growl at the hallway from time to time, but I never saw it again. I moved out about a year later."

We all sit there staring at him with what I'm sure is scared out of our minds expressions on our faces.

"You know it wasn't real don't you?"
