Chapter 14: Rupture

"As for the rest of you," said Aizawa, "you have five minutes to disperse yourselves. Y/N and Todorki, I suggest you use this time to strategize."

The rest of the class took off through the rubble of Ground Beta, looking for the perfect places to conceal themselves.

"Why did I have to be paired with him?" Y/N thought to herself. He was definitely going to ask her about things she wasn't ready to talk about. It's not like she wanted to ignore him, she just couldn't help but distance herself from everyone after what happened.

She walked with him to the entrance of the grounds, looking at her boots the whole way. They stood there for a few seconds in silence until he broke it. "We should split up," he said coldly. "Just don't get killed. I don't want to have to save you."

Y/N looked up at him, surprised. She hadn't heard that tone from him since she had started at UA... Why should she be surprised, though? Of course the distance was hurting him, she just hadn't realized how much.

"Okay, first team," said Izawa over the PA system. "The safe zone is in the center of the wreckage. You may begin."

Before she could say anything to Shoto, he took off running, leaving her behind. She started to run too, trying to focus on the task at hand. Maybe she could push him out of her mind...

She had only gone a little further, when she heard a sound coming from the rubble of a nearby builidng. "Help meeeee!" someone was yelling.

Y/N rolled her eyes, recognizing Ashido's voice. She went to the pile of rubble, moving rocks aside one at a time, slowly revealing her pink classmate, who was crouched in a little hole she'd dug using her acid.

"Help me hero!" she said smiling. Y/N offered her hand and Ashido grasped it and climbed out.

"Let's get you to the Safe Zone," said Y/N. Ashido followed behind Y/N on the way to the center of Ground Beta.

While they were walking, she saw Sero hanging from a lamppost by some of his tape. "Help!" he said. "I can't get down!"

"You got yourself up there, dummy!" Laughed Ashido, "I think we should leave him..."

Y/N sighed. She knew she could bend the lammpost, but she didn't want to use her quirk. She opted instead for slowly climbing up it and untying her friend. Soon he was free, and landed spryly on the ground.

"Thanks!" he said. "I think Iida is around here somewhere, too."

Y/N looked around, and spotted Iida laying flat on his back in the next alley over. She heard Ashido laugh beside her, and Y/N couldn't help but smile. He looked pretty funny.

They walked over to him, and Iida pretended to be unconscious. Y/N cleared her throat, "Excuse me?" she said politely, "Are you hurt?" Iida blinked and then with great gusto let out a large moan.

"My leg..." he said feigning weakness, "it's broken!" Sero and Ashido erupted with laughter. Y/N couldn't believe he was playing the part, and laughed a bit herself.

"Let's get you taken care of, " she said, trying not to laugh. Sero, why don't you bind his leg with your tape, and you can help me get him up.

Soon they had wrapped Iida's fake injury, and had him upright. Iida continued to moan and act the part, while the rest of them stifled their laughter. He put his body weight on Y/N's shoulder, and limped along as they made their way to the Safe Zone.

To her relief, they soon approached the circle marked in the center of the city. She saw that Jiro and Deku were sitting in the Safe Zone already, chatting. Todoroki must've gotten them there. She let Iida sit and rest inside the circle, and was glad to be rid of his extra weight.
