"Mind if I join you?" Geralt asks a few meters away from me

"Be my guest" I scooted aside to give room for him to sit, he sat next to me and let out a soft sigh

"Why did you leave the feast? People of King's Landing too much for you?" I asked, chuckling

"Honestly? Yes" he chuckled "People of The Continent often berate me with horrible slurs, I wasn't used to the positive attention the people of Westeros are giving me, though there are still some bastards who were giving me dirty looks the moment I stepped foot in Westeros " he stated "What about you, why did you escape the feast so early?"  he wondered, facing me

I sighed and tried not to burst into tears in front of him "This is the first time I went back to King's Landing after my husband, Jaime was murdered and I lost our child on the same day" I smiled sadly

"I'm sorry to hear that" he said "I shouldn't have asked" he added sympathetically

"Don't be sorry!" I faced him with a soft smile "The man who killed him was my former lover before Jaime and I were both betrothed by our families... He was executed shortly after my cousin's coronation as King of The Six Kingdoms" I stated

"You must've fallen in love with your husband during the time you were with your lover and that's why he killed him" he speculated, I shook my head

"I hated him and his family and I was generally opposed to marrying him and he didn't want to leave his post at the Kingsguard" I chuckled "But destiny was ironic, my lover left me after he found out about Jaime and I's betrothal, not knowing that I was pregnant with his child, Jaime claimed the child as his and we fell in love weeks before our wedding here in King's Landing, we couldn't wait until then so we eloped in Winterfell" I sighed

"Do you believe in destiny?" he asked

"Destiny is never on my side Geralt, it was very ironic that the man I used to despise for the things his family did to mine is the love of my life, my husband and the father of my daughter, but the moment destiny took my husband and my child away from me, I never believed in it anymore" I sighed "What about you? Do you believe in destiny?" I asked

"I don't, but if you're destined to be with somebody or be someone, you can never avoid it, believe me I've tried" he chuckles

"Ciri" I stated, he looked at me amusingly "I know she isn't your child Geralt, Maesters told myths about how Witchers were sterile and can never have children" I chuckled

"I saved her father's life in a banquet. I claimed the Law of Surprise as payment, thinking nothing would come out of it, as it turns out Ciri's mother was already pregnant with her" he says "I tried running away but destiny seemed to want me to be a father to her after her family died" he chuckled a little, shaking his head

"The Law of Surprise hasn't been claimed in Westeros in over a hundred years" I stated "The last person who claimed it was my ancestor, Edrik Stark to his wife Elissa Mormont after saving her father's life" I stated "But as what my father tells me, their relationship didn't last after Elissa died of childbirth... destiny still has a way of fucking things up and so Edrik vowed that the Law of Surprise can never be claimed by anyone of his blood or it will give them bad luck" I stated

"Edrik is a smart man by banning the Law of Surprise" he laughed, I can't help but laugh with him

"True" I agreed with a chuckle "You know, Jaime made me feel like I belong somewhere" I smiled softly "I was my father's only child to his first wife, she died giving birth to me"  I stated "I was close with Lady Catelyn and my younger siblings but I always felt like I was an outcast and would rather spend most days with Aegon and Theon, swordfighting and training instead of being a very prim and proper lady" I chuckled at the memory "Lady Stark was very disappointed in me and tried her best with the septa to teach me on how to be a lady but I can tell she was impressed with my fighting skills and finally let me do both"  I smiled

"I'd like to see you with a sword one day" he chuckled

For a Witcher, he seemed to show emotions like a normal human

I shook my head "Those days are behind me Geralt, I only fight when I need to, to protect the people I love"

"And...  I admire that about you" he gave me a soft smile, I smile back as I felt the familiar yet strange feeling within my stomach

"What are you doing?" I frowned, looking at Jaskier who was spying on Geralt and Lady Sofia from behind a tree near them

"They make a cute couple don't you think?" he grinned slyly, I pinched his ear and dragged him away from the tree he was hiding in, making him yelp

"Mind your own business Jaskier! You know Geralt doesn't like it when we meddle with his personal life!" I dragged him by the ear back to the castle as I watch them talk from afar with both of them smiling and laughing, which was rare in Geralt's case

But Jaskier is right, they do make a cute couple

A/N: I'm back! I made my first big tweak on Sofia's background (she is Eddard Stark's oldest child instead of being Robb's twin sister 😅)
