I have been avoiding Sofia for the rest of the day because of the kiss we shared at the training grounds

She can never be in love with me, she just cant

"What do I do Roach? Everyone I love dies or leaves! My own mother left me to be a mutant, Yennefer died" I sighed, petting her nose as she brayed softly "I can't and I don't want to act on my feelings, I can't risk her life by being with a-"  I was cut off by a familiar voice

"A mutant? A monster hunter? A witcher?" Sofia says, now standing a few meters away from me "Were you avoiding me Geralt?" she asked

"What does it look like?" I said rudely, Roach nudges me as if she was telling me to be not rude, I gave her a look and she snorted, scolding me "What happened this morning was in heat of the moment, nothing more" I lied

"It didn't mean nothing to me Geralt." she now stood in front of me, her chocolate brown eyes captivating me as I look at them

"To me it meant nothing" I tried my best to sound convincing that I don't feel anything for her

It meant everything to me...

"I never believed in love at first sight, I thought it was impossible to fall in love with someone whom you laid eyes on them" she says, caressing my cheek "Until I met you" she smiles sweetly as she strokes my cheek lovingly

I want to melt into her touch and say that I fell for her the first time I saw her as well

But I want her to be safe... That will only happen when she's far away from me

"I don't feel the same way Your Highness, I'm sorry" I lied, trying to keep my true emotions at bay while removing her hand on my cheek

"Then why did you kiss me back if you don't feel anything for me Geralt? You could've pushed me away but you didn't!" she exclaimed

"Even if I did feel anything when we kissed, we can never be together and you know it" I looked at her in the eyes

"Why? Because a princess like me can never be with a mutant like you? That you can't give me children even if we tried, is that it?!" she says angrily

"No" I replied, my emotions getting the best of me by the minute

"Then help me understand Geralt!" she exclaims

"EVERYONE I LOVE LEAVES ME OR DIES!" I spat, letting my emotions show "My mother left me to become a freak! The first woman I loved had died because of me!" I never realized that I was already crying "I don't want to risk your life by being with a Witcher" I said with a whisper

"My mother died after giving birth to me, my father was wrongly executed for treason that he never committed, my stepmother, my younger brother and my unborn nephew were betrayed by one of my brother's bannermen and were slaughtered at Uncle Edmure's wedding... And my husband was killed during the sack of King's Landing" she caressed my cheek and wiped my tears "The Starks have a lot of enemies and they succeeded killing most of our family and the ones we love and now I'm risking your life because I-" I cut her off

"I dreamt about you before we met, We were having a similar conversation but you were Queen of The North and you wanted to give up everything to be with me" I told her, caressing her cheek before continuing "I pulled myself away from you not because I didn't want you but because I didn't want you to choose between your duties and me" I sighed "When I turned away, you were killed by Cersei and I was too late to save you" I tried to look away but she pulled me close and wrapped my arms around her waist

"You didn't let me finish Geralt" she chuckles softly "I'm now risking your life because I love you Geralt of Rivia..." she smiles sweetly, running her thumb across my cheek "And as for Cersei, she's lucky I'm helping you slay the striga or I will hunt her down and kill her myself" she rolled her eyes

"Who said I'm letting you help me kill the striga?" I raised my eyebrow, giving her a teasing smile

"Me. I'm not like other women or noble ladies Geralt, you should probably know that by now" she giggles with a wink

I leaned closer and whispered “And that is why I love you, Sofia Stark” I smirked before kissing her again, this kiss being more passionate than our last kiss this morning
