Y/n pov:
Ruel and I grew up together and have been best friends for nearly 11 years. He's really the only reason I look forward to waking up in the mornings, knowing he's probably down stairs.
As we became closer and close over the years, being around him started to feel different. Everytime he looks at me, my heart races. When we hug, every part of my body gets set a light. Just being near him made me nervous
For nearly 5 years this lust had been growing stronger with me.
Ruel pov:
I can remember the first time I ever saw y/n like it was yesterday.
-flashback
We had just moved in and my parents insisted we all needed to go and meet the neighbours, so we walked next door. The door opened to a tall man, who later shook my hand and introduced himself as Ash. A shorter lady came from behind him and did the same, shook my hand and introduced herself as Violet.
2 boys a bit younger then Coco came running down the stairs and pushed past us
Ash: please excuse my boys, they have been inside all week with the flu
Mum: no problem at all
After some small talk we were all invited in. While my dad and Ash were talking, Violet was called aside. A few seconds later she came back holding the hand of a girl my age
Violet: this is y/n, this is Ruel, and Coco, and Sylvie, and Mr and Mrs Van Dijk
y/n: it's a pleasure to meet you
She was just like her parents. Shook mum and dads hand
Mum: please darling, you call me Kate

As our parents started to get closer, we started spending more time together but I never had the chance to talk to her. She was a really shy kid, always hiding behind her brothers or her dad, and all 3 were intimating
My 6th birthday came around fast and I wanted her at my party, so what did I do? Throw my ball in the tree for an excuse to go over. Smh I was dumb
She's a genius. By 7 when I was still learning simple addition, she was doing grade 4 math with ease. She was brought up extremely well, like EXTREMELY well.
The first time I properly stayed over was when we were 15. Her parents came to the door and told her they were going, exchanged hugs and a few small world like "be safe". After they left I had a thought..

Ruel: what do your parents do?

Ruel: like a job, what's their job?
y/n: um, they work for the government. And no before you ask, they do not kill people

Ruel: y/n's parents are assassins
Sylvie: they aren't assassins you idiot
Ruel: well they do something like that
Y/n walked out of the bathroom
y/n: they aren't assassins Ruel, I can't talk about it though
Mum: they are ASIS, their pretty much the FBI for Australia
Ruel: so their spy's?
y/n: basically
(ASIS is the Australian Security Intelligent Service)

They are in and out a lot with work, so y/n spends lots of time at my place. She's become a part of our family, and I guess I've become part of hers.
-flashback-
The first time I saw y/n surf was at Byron. The weather was shit and we were all packing up, when y/n just kind of vanished back down the beach. We all half ran after her
Sunday: your crazy if you go out in that
Bodhi: she can't hear you
As she paddled out the rain got heavier and a massive set started to form out behind her. She saw it and just went, catching the biggest waves we'd seen all day.
Bodhi: she's gone! Shit where is she?!
Mary: Ruel how are you not worried? We can't see her
I wasn't gonna get stressed, she knows how to swim and hold her breath.
Bodhi: Ruel your the only one with a suit on go fucking get her!
Sunday: let her fucking drown
I crouched down, looking at the barrel close up. All I could think was "she's gotta get out before she gets smashed on the sand bank". All of a sudden she splashes out the end, still standing, alive & breathing
Bodhi: you've got to be shitting me. No freakin way
We all stood in awe, waiting for her to get back. When she did, no one said anything, completely breath taken.
y/n: what's wrong with you's?
Bodhi: how long have you been surfing exactly?
y/n: since I was 7 why?
Ruel: that was fucking incredible
