Faux Family

Roan's POV

Ever since that incident with Georgia and Aling Fara, I was filled with anxiety and frustrations. Convincing myself that this is not true, I still can't shake the possibility that I may not be my parents' biological daughter. 

I've done watching the movie 'Like father, like son'

And somehow I was consoled that when the time comes, my parents would still choose me. That the love they have for me can overlook the mistake of a long time ago.

"Kambal, gising ka pa ba?" I heard Rohan's voice outside my room. "Can I come in?"

Before my brother turned the knob, I run instead to open the door myself. "What's up?"

"Shouldn't I be asking that?" Tanong niya. "Iniisip mo pa rin ba yung sinabi sayo ni Georgia?"

Tumango ako.

Rohan closed the door and we both sat on my bed.

"Hindi pa ba niya binabawi ang mga pinagsasabi niya sa'yo last time?" Tanong ulit ni Kambal. At umiling lang ako.

"Can you be honest with me?" Kinakabahan kong tanong. Ever since I can remember, Rohan never lied to me. He is my best friend. And my savior sa tuwing gumagawa kami ng kalokohan. He is always ready to take the blame for both of us.

"Sure." 

Napalunok muna ako bago nagsalita. "May resemblance ba kami ni Mommy?"

"Mas prominent ang features ni Dad e. But you got Mom's eyes. And the way they twinkle when you laugh or smile."

"Are you sure?" Tanong ko. Kasi whenever I look in the mirror, I do not see mommy's features. Yes, it is true that there is a resemblance with Dad but can I trust that? Thinking about Georgia, parang mas mapagkakamalan nga siyang anak ni mommy kaysa sa akin e.

"If you doubt it, you can ask mommy. And my God, Kambal. Singing voice mo nga kapareho ng kay mommy." Dagdag ni Rohan.

"Why are you so worried about? Gusto mo bang magpa-DNA test tayo para mawala ang pagdududa mo?"

Umiling ako. Truth is, I always have been insecure. Hindi ko alam pero wala akong lakas ipagtanggol ang karapatan  ko bilang kinikilalang anak nina Lea at Aga Muhlach.

Siguro dahil na rin sa ilang taon na hindi ko nakasama ang mommy ko.

Magsasalita pa sana si Rohan ng biglang pumalahaw sa iyak ang isa sa mga kapatid namin. 

"That's Athrun." Sabi ni Kambal. "Tingnan natin?"

Dali-dali kaming lumabas sa kwarto at pinuntahan ang kwarto ng nakababatang kapatid namin. 

"It's ok, baby. It's okay. Sshh.." buhat buhat ni Daddy si Athrun, samantalang si Mireya ay nakatunghay lang sa kanila.

"What happened?" Humahangos na tanong ni mommy. Kalalabas lang ng banyo dahil naka-robe pa siya at basa ang maikling buhok.

"Mireya took his bottle." Paliwanag ni Daddy.
