Chapter 4

The darkness was coming at an overwhelming rate. The closer it got, the closer to death I felt. I couldn't stop the unstoppable madness. It came crashing down instantly. The second before it hit me, I woke up in cold sweat. My heart thrashing as I tried to calm my breathing. It was only a dream...

I tried to stand up, forgetting I now had four legs. Great, now I have to deal with this everyday I wake up. Unless I'm so stressed that I don't even sleep. I looked around and saw Twilight sleeping on her side, though I noticed that she was breathing rapidly. I went over to her to see if she was alright. When I looked at her, she was in cold sweat. She must be having a nightmare. Maybe if I wake her up...

Suddenly, she bolted up, her tail poofed up and her neck fur bristling, looking as if the devil himself scared her awake. The look in her eyes were haunted, a pair of sparkling yellow stars, now distraught and darkened by the depth of whatever she saw in her unconcious mind. For some reason, this seemed to worry me all too much for it to be normal. Maybe I'm just worried about her as my friend?

We continued walking through the forest, going wherever our paws took us. The haunting look in Twilight's eyes seemed to have eased away, however, she looked far from calm. But she looked so bright and energetic yesterday. Why did she all of a sudden change? Idiot! Of course you don't understand! You just met her! It's not like you've known her your whole life! Although I knew this was true, the thought of not knowing her as long as that infuriated me, I don't know what it was but it deeply did. Oh whatever. Get over this! It's not like you're jealous of anything! Unless I am... No! Get that outta your head! Focus! I was trying to focus, but how could I when I all of a sudden I get this ominous "warning" that felt more like an omen, and when there's this FOX I just met that I can't get outta my head? I have to get my shit together... But when I looked up, Twilight was gone.
