Adrian POV
I was in the living room waiting for Melanie and Vivian to come downstairs. I had ordered wedding rings for Melanie and I since we're headed to my parents' house, and I couldn't have them suspect anything.
Just as Melanie was coming down with Vivian. I looked at how beautiful she looked. She didn't looked scared and tensed. Yet, she wore a long sleeve dress to cover her bruises. I've only seen her arm's, but if that's how bad her arms were I can't even imagine her whole body?
"Well you ladies sure look beautiful."
"Thank you daddy"
Melanie just nodded to my comment it seemed like she wasn't used to those comments.
"Let me see your hand."
"What is it."
"These are our wedding rings."
As I opened the car for Vivian and Melanie. I noticed a black car outside. I got the girls inside the car and went to go check out the black car.
Then, Ethan Mendez got out of the car.
"Adrian, are you guys about to go out? I came to see my Daughter."
It boiled my blood to see him get out of the car and expect me to let him see Melanie made it even worse.
" Ethan, we're off to a business trip. How about you come another time after we come back." I lied to him cause I didn't want going to my parents house or near Melanie.
"Do you mind if I can have five minutes with her?"
"We're actually running late, Ethan. I don't want to miss our flight, but I can pass any message you need to tell her."
"Just let her know I miss her. Let me know when you guys get back so I can come and see her."
"Of course I will Ethan"
I headed towards the car and called David our driver to take us instead to make it seem like we were actually headed to the airport and that he was dropping us off. I told him to take a longer way towards my parents house
Once I got in the car. Vivian was showing a book to Melanie about a princess story. Apparently, Melanie didn't see I was talking to her father and I'm actually glad she didn't see him. It would have ruined the whole trip to our parents and she would have be scared of the message Ethan told me to tell her.
I had my arm around her waist and told her in her ear. "Remember we have to act live a real couple in front of my parents."
I didn't want Vivian to hear what I told her and Melanie just nodded with a smile. I also felt weird with the ride towards my parents and I wanted to give Melanie a news about her Nana. She came this morning and begged me about seeing Melanie. I felt bad and offered her a place to stay. I didn't have any positions available, but I told her she could help the cook in the house.
"Melanie, I was thinking about having your Nana Mary come live with us? What do you say."
"Oh my god, Adrian really?"
"Yes, what do you say."
"Thank you so much! Thank you!!"
She said as she hugged me. This woman is full of surprises. Its weird how she got more excited about her Nana than other girls who would get excited over shopping or other stupid stuff. I'm glad she not like other type of girls.
"Anything to see you smile." I told her as I kissed her cheek
"Thank you so much Adrian. It means the world to me to see her again!"
"Who's that Nana? Vivian asked?"
"She's my nana Mary, she took care of me ever since I was a child."
"Will she play princesses with us too."
"Of course she will, Honey." Melanie told her as she placed a kiss on her forehead.
Once we made it to my parents house I got off first and helped Melanie and Vivian out of the car.
Vivian ran straight to the door without waiting for us.
I grabbed Melanie's waist and we made ourselves to the door. I was about to open the door when my Mother suddenly opened it.
"Son, what a surprise? Who's this girl you have so wrapped around?"
"Mother, this is Melanie my wife"
"Hello Mrs Soto, it's so nice to meet you." She said as she extended her hand.
My mother on the other hand, did even shake Melanie's hand.
"Is this some stupid joke, Adrian."
"Mother, Melanie is my wife and you will treat her with all respect."
"Son what about Emily? Adrian, you know she has loves you and she... before she could say anything else I cut her off.
"Mother, we've already talked about this."
Soon My sister and father approached us. And, I introduced everyone to Melanie. Everyone seemed to like her except my mother.
We sat in the living room after everyone had lunch and Vivian sat in Melanie's lap.
"Melanie, how long did you and my brother meet?"
I decided I was going to answer for her and responded to my sisters questions. Melanie didn't seem welcomed after my mother threw all that information about Emily.
"We met at a business dinner, I had at my company. I had invited her father over and we talked since then. We dated and I had proposed to her a few months back. We got married a weeks or so ago.
"Wow brother, now I know why you kept rejecting those dates with Emily. Well, I want to welcome you to the family Melanie. I'm glad he made a great decision, you and Vivian seemed to be inseparable already."
"Thank you Susan." Was all Melanie has said
Later, we had dinner and my mother couldn't stop staring at Melanie. Which made her eat less than she usually eats.
My mother on the other hand, decided to excuse herself and say she wasn't feeling good after we all ate dinner.
Everyone went back to the living room and I decided to leave Melanie and Susan chat. I made my way upstairs and go to my mothers room.
"Mother." I knocked on the door I said before I opened it.
"What do you want, Adrian."
"Mother stop the Nonsense. You know why I came here."
"Son you and Emily were suppose to...
"Mother cut it out. I never liked Emily and never will. So please treat my wife with respect and stop mentioning Emily."
"Adrian, you know I want what's best for you. how come you never mentioned anything about her this wife of yours?"
"Mom I don't want to be rude, so please drop the topic already. If your going to keep that topic then, My wife and daughter will be leaving."
"Son, I'm sorry."
"I'm not the one you should apologize."
As I was going downstairs I grabbed Vivian from the kitchen and went towards Melanie who was sitting with my sister laughing and talking about random stuff.
"Melanie Sweetheart, we should get going."
Melanie nodded and we headed home.
