Adrian's pov
"everything okay dude?" I hear one of my classmates question I just nod, my pack knows I was unfaithful to my mate but they can't know that I have found my mate, I thought that because I rejected her I wouldn't feel her pain but I guess I was wrong because that hurt badly, my whole side was on fire and I swear there was wolves vain on the floor that she was cleaning up and she looked on the verge of death. I shake off the weird feeling inside that I need to protect her and just concentrate on my school work.
after school, I head to Jayden's school in hopes that I might see her again, I don't know why but my wolf does not want to let her go
'she is too strong to let me go but I do think that she is starting to weaken' i hear my wolf chime up
"Daddy?" Jayden questions once I walk through the front door
"What is wrong bubs?" i question picking him and all his stuff up
"chole only stayed in school short time today and was bleeding, is she okay?" i close my eyes and picture when i saw her earlier, it did look like she was bleeding
"I'm sure she is okay" I mumble out, I notice one of the teachers walking up to us
"hey Jayden I need to talk to your daddy for a minute okay" she smiles brightly making him nod and jump out of my arms rushing off
"Jayden has been asking all day about why chole was bleeding but you need to find a way to not scar him for life" she mumbles out making me raise an eyebrow
"and why was she bleeding?" I question
"do you not know what happens to the council members?" he questions making me shake my head
"they get branded, but they are not meant to bleed that much, john called her in sick for next few days so she can rest but won't give any details on why she was bleeding so much, john sure didn't he was healed by the time he woke up" she mumbles sadly
"how do you know he healed straight away?" I question making her smile
"I'm his mate silly, and I know your secret but its safe with me, john has three months before he takes over and chole has convinced him to change the law, I do know though that chole doesn't just have one mark, her dad was a sick man for putting that on her skin but I have said too much" she mumbles just as Jayden rushes over
"Daddy, can we go home?" he questions making me nod, I go to say goodbye to the teacher only to realize she is gone.
"what were you and Alice talking about?" Jayden questions as we get into my car
"just how you are doing in school" I smile before driving off home.
"go play okay" I smile as I unbuckle him at home, within seconds my pup is gone and is playing with the other kids
"did you know?" I question walking inside to see my beta, I walk away already knowing he will follow
"know what?" he question
"that the council members get branded?" i question making him stop in his tracks
"I mean I heard rumours they did it but I didn't know if they are true" he states making me nod
"well it is true" I growl out once in my office, I slam my backpack into the wall and slide down it before I feel a searing pain in my side
"okay ouch" I mumble out holding my side
"you okay dude?" my beta questions making me shake my head
"no, my mate is next in line to be the second in command of the council, and I rejected her but she is too strong for my wolf to actually sever the ties so I feel her pain" I growl
"what are we going to do?" he questions making me look at him
"I have no idea" I mumble out, on the verge of passing out
