The group of friends were sitting in a circle on the soft carpet.

"Ethan, truth or dare?" Tyler asked with a smirk.

"Um, truth?" He answered hesitantly.

"Out of everyone in this room," which consisted of three boys and three girls, "who would you legitimately date?"

Everyone could see the blush that made its way onto Ethan's cheeks - partly due to everyone staring at him, partly because he knew his answer right away.

He took a moment to speak, making it seem as though he had to think about it. "Hmm, I think I have to go with Tyler," the younger boy said jokingly.

"Haha, very funny," Tyler said sarcastically. "Now, your real answer."

Ethan sighed and said quietly, "Emma, I guess."

"How enthusiastic," Emma rolled her eyes and laughed.

"Well, there's no other options. I'm straight, so Mark and Tyler are out. Amy has Mark. Kathryn is basically my sister at this point. So only Emma is left." Ethan shrugged, trying to play it off like it's no big deal.

"Alright, sure. We'll go with that," Tyler said, knowing that wasn't the truth. "Ethan, it's your turn."

"Okay, uh, Mark, truth or dare?"

A few rounds passed before it was Amy's turn to ask someone again. "Truth or dare, Emma?"

"Dare..." She was a bit nervous but felt up to the task.

"Play seven minutes in heaven with Ethan."

Emma shrugged, glad she didn't have to do something embarrassing. The two of them stood up and went into the bathroom since it was bigger than the clothes-filled closet.

"The timer started!" Mark called out for the pair to hear.

"You know I was only brushing off my answer to stop their suspicions, right?"

"Were you now?"

"I was." Ethan let out a low chuckle. "I really like you, Emma."

Her cheeks burned red. "I really like you, too, Ethan."

"Is that so?" He smiled.

Emma leaned in and closed the gap between them. Ethan's eyes shut as soon as their lips collided. They could feel each other smiling in the kiss.

The two finally pulled away but only because they needed to breathe.

"Does that answer your question?"

"Emma," Ethan mumbled in a deeper voice than normal. "Would you like to go on a date with me?"

"I'd love to go on a date with you, E." The girl smiled.

"Maybe then I'll ask you to be my girlfriend."

Both of them chuckled lightly. "What? You don't know me well enough yet?"

"I know you very well, Emma Grace Williams. I know how your eyes sparkle when you're full of joy, how you always sing along to your favorite songs no matter how out of key you are. I know that you hate reading but are absolutely obsessed with the Harry Potter series and that you love making a mockery of romance movies. I know that you're absolutely beautiful and nothing can make me think otherwise. And I know that I love you so very much, even if it's not necessarily in a romantic way yet."

Emma stood there dumbfounded. She couldn't believe her best friend felt so strongly about her. Her cheeks were bright red, and she was at a loss for words.

"I-I guess you do know me." Ethan laughed and kissed the top of Emma's head.

"You're so adorable."

"I could say the same about you," Emma confessed.

They were surprised that the seven minutes weren't up yet, so they sat on the floor in comfortable silence with Ethan's arm around Emma's shoulder.

Moments later, the knob turned and the door opened. Outside in the hallway stood Mark, Tyler, Amy, and Kathryn.

"So how did things go, lovebirds?" Amy questioned.

"All we did was talk. You do know we're only friends, right?" Ethan spoke.

"Yeah, and I'm Irish," Mark said.

"Well, we're not dating," Emma joined in.

"Yet," Kathryn mumbled. "You're not dating yet."

"Whatever." Ethan and Emma gave up on trying to defend themselves. "So did you guys continue the game while we were in here?"

"Nope, we didn't want you guys to miss anything. We were just talking."

Ethan nodded as he and Emma stood up to leave the room. The whole crew went back into the living room and sat on the floor once again.

This time, Ethan and Emma were sitting next to each other, and Ethan kept his arm around his soon-to-be girlfriend's shoulder as the game continued.
