Holly had figured out her plan in a few months. It had taken a lot of convincing (and a lot of apologies) but Dick was back to being a member of the family again.
It was going to be ok, hopefully. Roxanne has been sober for a few months now and Dick and Barbara were now speaking again. Continuing to remain friends.
Roxanne was continuing to go to her AA meetings and she and Dick both agreed to go to couple's therapy, take things slower this time.
It was all in all good. Graduation was just around the corner and hopefully Dick, Afia and Roxanne would all pass. "Hey... what are you thinking about?" Roxanne asks from the couch, with a textbook in her hand, interrupting Dick's thoughts. "Just about stuff. I'm glad everything is ok now." She smiles knowingly at him. "Me too."
Author's Notes
Well that was shorter than I expected.
I didn't except to actually give Roxanne and Dick a happy ending (like it was written) but clearly my mind changed on that since I thought about that statement. I like this ending a lot of I'm honest, even if it is short.
At least it's not like Same Old Song... that book didn't end happily :(
