i've been drowning for a while now.
sometimes life swells around us like waves in a storm surge,
the force of the swash knocking all of the energy out of us,
and there's nothing we can do except try to keep our heads above the water
as the currents threaten to submerge us.
but you've been like my life jacket.
keeping me afloat when i don't have the strength to keep myself above the surface of the sea.
you've been keeping me alive,
did you know that?
i hope the waters calm down soon,
or at least that i will learn how to swim.
but there won't ever be enough ways to thank you
for being my life jacket.
