Baby. Baby. Skylar was pregnant with a baby. But when?

When did she get pregnant? Why didn't I know that she was pregnant? Why did no one tell me?

Jethro cocked his head and studied me. His eyes held pain in them, and I wondered how he knew that she was pregnant and didn't tell me. "Breathe," he said, and I took a deep breath while I tried to calm my nerves. "You can't forget to breathe, Katie."

I didn't respond and took in another deep breath. "How?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "How do you know that she is pregnant?"

Jethro sighed and moved a hand through his hair. "Same reason as to how I know other things about her," he replied. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet, nervous. "However, some of the stuff that I know is stuff that she needs to tell you herself." He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet again and looked away from me. "You could ask someone else, but..." He trailed off and shrugged while he cleared his throat a second time.

I bit my lip and looked down. I didn't say a word and watched my hands shake. "How do you know about him?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. I knew who he was talking about, knew it from the bottom of my heart.

Jethro looked back at me and smiled sadly. "Well," he began. "This pack has been linked with them for many, many years ago," he said, "before you and I were born or even written in the stars." He shrugged and grimaced, rubbing a hand across the back of his neck. "It's no secret that there was a reason why you were brought here and not somewhere else," he added.

An image of the blue lights appeared in my head, and I cocked my head while I studied him. "The blue lights," I said, and he raised an eyebrow in question.

"Blue lights?" he asked because I had never talked about how I got to the waterfall, only that I was there to take a nap before I found a place to rest my head for as long as I needed until I was ready to go back to my pack and my Alpha.

I nodded and licked my lips. A blush appeared on my cheeks, and I looked down at my shaking hands, wondering if I should tell him this. I knew that he knew most of what I knew, but this was one thing that I hadn't told him, not even when I was drunk.

Jethro cocked his head and studied me. "You know you can tell me anything, right?" he asked softly. There was a bit of hesitance in his voice, and I wondered why he became hesitant with me.

I took a deep breath and nodded, letting it out with a small whoosh. "I know," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I grabbed a pillow and clutched it to my chest.

"And I won't judge you for whatever you have to say. I didn't do that when you told me about Jerecho."

I hesitated and nodded. "I know that, too."

"So...?" He raised an eyebrow, and I raised mine, mimicking him. "Tell me about the blue lights."

I took a deep breath and let it out before I cleared my throat. I didn't look at him and cleared my throat again. "Ummmm," I shifted on my bed, "when I left the pack, a blue light appeared in front of me." I furrowed my brows and tried to remember that moment they came. "I had this urge to follow it, so I did."

"What were they shaped like?"

"Blue orbs," I replied. "They lit up the path every hundred feet and would only disappear when I needed to rest or eat."

Jethro nodded. "Did they lead you to the cave?" he asked, and I nodded.

"They lead me there," I confirmed. I shrugged my shoulder and cleared my throat. "Remember what I had said all of those years ago?" I asked absentmindedly.

"It was two years ago, but yes," Jethro replied, and he nodded. "You said that your life was planned. You were supposed to be here, and Sky confirmed that when she visited."

I nodded, my heart aching for my best friend and becoming filled with worry. I had no idea what my friend was going through and prayed that she was safe, especially with a baby now on board.

Jethro's eyes softened when he saw me clutching the pillow tighter. He smiled, but it wasn't his normal smile. "We're leaving in two hours to see what we can do to help that pack," he said. He cleared his throat and stood. "I will see you then."

I nodded and grabbed the pillow closer to my chest. "How long are we staying?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Jethro shrugged. "Don't know," he replied. "Until they don't need us anymore." He smiled. "My suggestion is to pack for a couple of weeks. If you decide to stay..." He trailed off and shrugged. "We'll worry about that when the time comes."

My heart pounded in my chest, and a lump appeared in my throat. I had no idea what the future would hold, the urge to be with my mate strong.

However, the fear of being hurt held me back, and I had no idea if he had changed enough. He had to have a reason why he did that, why he rejected me and then had fun with others, didn't he?

Luna and Sky told me to wait, to let him explain before I accepted the rejection, and I was going to wait. I was going to wait until I felt like I couldn't take it any longer.

I needed to do that for me.

Jethro cleared his throat, and I looked up to see him studying me. An amused smile appeared on his face, and I blushed, looking down. "Contact him if you have any questions that I can't answer," he said. "He's been waiting for you."

I looked down again and nodded slowly. I had no idea if he was mad at me for not contacting him or not, and I prayed that he wasn't.

"Get packed." He bowed his head and left, leaving me to my thoughts and going over what had happened in my mind.
