Maya came inside the apartment finding her mom and Shawn Hunter talking.
It has never came to her that he visited.
"Hey, Kiddo," Shawn said and Katy smiled.
"Pack your bags. You're going to stay with Shawn for a few days," Katy said.
"What about school?" Maya asked.
"I live just up the street. Your mom wants some time alone," Shawn said.
"Mom, what is going on?" Maya asked.
"Nothing, Baby Girl. Go pack," Katy said and Maya shook her head.
"You are not the only one who is suffering. You know what this thing with Dad has done to me?" Maya asked.
"He's not your father, Maya. He's a coward," Katy said and Shawn looked carefully at both the girls.
"He may be a coward for whatever reason you may think, but he is still my father," Maya said.
"Maya Penelope Hart stop acting like a five year old and get your stuff," Katy said.
"I'm staying right here. And dare to do anything then I'm going to Mr Matthews. It's not a empty threat," Maya said as she went to her room.
"Leave it Shawn. She won't go anywhere. Thank you for considering to take her in. She has to cope on her own now," Katy said.
