"But I keep explaining this to you, what is so hard about keeping your dick in your pants, when are you going to grow up and be faithful?" I've never been so sick of explaining something in my life.
I've been preaching this to him since we've been together. Am I not good enough? What do they have that I don't?
"I'm not going to tell your ass again, I'm a grown ass man, don't question the shit I do or the moves I make." Herb said pushing me to the side.
"I can question anything I want when the shit is happening in my home." I said walking behind him.
He turned around grabbing me and pinning me against the wall. "This my shit, I pay bills around this motherfucker."
He gripped my neck tighter with his left hand.
"Like I said I'm grown." Herb spat letting go.
"Act like it then." I mumbled walking back towards the bed. I felt a rough grip on my arm pulling me around to him followed by a stinging slap to the face.
"Say that shit with your chest next time." His face was inches away from mines.
I couldn't even cry because I did this to myself. I let him get comfortable enough to think he could put his hands on me and that's just what he did, all the time.

"Huh?" I said snapping back to reality. I was getting my hair done by my bestie Tae. He always kept me right.
"Girl I been calling your name for ten minutes!" He laughed. My family and Tae were the only people who could keep me sane. They were my escape from all the chaos.
"My bad, just got a lot on my mind."
"Mmm, wanna talk about it? You know I'm all ears." Tae spoke while curling my hair.
"I rather not, it's not nothing serious. Just a little stressed with work." I knew how Tae could get in situations like these because this isn't the first time Herb has put his hands on me...obviously.
"Alright then, turn your head just a little." He said as he continued to curl my hair.
Tae had just finished doing my hair.
"Lo, why this whole side of your face slightly red?"
I froze, I thought I covered it all with foundation. Before I could even get another word out Tae was examining my whole body.
"Your arm." He starred at me. "Herb did this?" I nodded as tears came rushing to the brim of my eyes.
Tae grabbed his keys off of the counter. "Where you going?" I asked.
"Find this nigga, I'm tired of this bullshit. He want to beat on a female but wouldn't dare hit me. Pussy behavior." Tae spat clearly agitated.
"Tae I just-" I couldn't hold it in anymore, all my emotions just poured out. Tae came up to me snatching me into a hug I desperately needed.
"It's going to be alright baby." He hugged me tight.
"Where did we go wrong? We were so happy Tae. We loved eachother, what happened to all of that?" I questioned.
"He couldn't grow up and take on responsibility for the both of you baby, not all men can. I got you forever remember that." Tae said wiping my eyes.
"Can't believe he made your mean ass cry." Tae and I laughed. He always knew what to say.
"You're right."
"Look you going to stay with me till we figure something out, I'm not letting you go back to him after this. I'm sending Luka and Jayda to go pack you up some stuff and bring it to my house."
I couldn't thank him enough. I just wanted a way out of this madness.
