Dew, Eseul and the other villagers were routed and made to kneel.
"You brought with you a curse and now you have risked tainting us," the captain accused.
The villagers were confused and afraid.
"What are you talking about?" one dared to ask.
"Kill them," the captain ordered.
"No! Please, have mercy on the little ones!" the parents of children begged but it was no used.
"Mommy!" a young girl cried as she was being separated from her mother.
Hori? Dew thought she saw him standing to the side and called to him.
"Hori! Please, help us!"
He ignored her and it stung, even if Dew saw that he looked guilty.
The rains continued to pour. Thunder roared. Lightning struck. And it turned midnight.
