I felt the eyes of the crowd, watching, waiting, anticipating. I knew I couldn't show any emotion. I saw my sister. My real sister. My only good memory from home. There she was. But I couldn't reach her. I couldn't do anything but smile. Even if I tried to tell her the story, she wouldn't believe me. The silent screams still rung in my ears, the sounds of her and I playing around at the park as little kids. It felt like it took years for the curtains to close. But soon enough, everyone was gone and we were alone. Susie came up to me and asked why I was so off, I wanted to give her a simple answer, but she was my best friend, and she could see right through my lies. Even with this stupid, animatronic head. She sat with me as I told her my stories of Neveah and I, playing on the school playground, stealing cookies from the jar after we went to bed, back when life was simple.
