Jakes POV
I stare at my background as it is erika and think about how much I miss her being in my arms. I feel blood dripping from my nose and I get up going into my bathroom. I grab toilet paper and stand in front of the mirror. I wipe the blood off my face and remember the events. The whole right side of my face is messed up from getting into a fight with another teammate a couple hours ago because he was talking shit about other players and I confronted him but he didn't like it so he pushed me and I didn't punch back only because I didn't want the opportunity to play with them get taken away. The bruise under my eye is black and blue, the cut on my lip and cheek hurt pretty bad. I'm kinda pissed off because I leave for the airport in 20 minutes to go home for Christmas break and I have to go home looking like shit. I clean myself up and grab some last minute things for my bag. I grab my phone, wallet, and my lanyard and get out of my room
J- aye I'll see you soon have a good Christmas
N- thanks you too
I hug him and leave. I put my hood up so no one can see anything. Once I'm downstairs I get in the Uber and she drives me to LAX.
home
I step out of the airport into freezing cold weather. The snow falls hitting the ground softly. I see my dad to my left as he's a couple cars down the line. I head over and he takes me in a long hug
G- hey bud
J- hi dad
G- six months is a long time you know
J- oh I know
We pull back and his smile drops when he sees my face
G- what happened
J- I'll tell you in the truck
We get in and he drives us home
J- today was our last training session before it was all done and before I heard Alex talking shit about our teammate so I went up and was like "hey man I heard you talking shit about our team and I know I wasn't the only one that heard it and I just want you to know that what you said was pretty rude"
G- around other people
J- yeah in the locker room but it took him a second to realize what I said and he just came at me. I didn't hit back just in case if I lose the opportunity that I was given.
G- I should be mad but what you did was a good decision
Home
I lay in my bed since it's 11:30pm and I'm tired of travelling. I just finished my shower and I put on shorts. I turn the tv on just to have some company as I go on my phone.
E- goodnight I love you
Erika has been off for a couple days already while mine gets off just a couple days before Christmas.
J- night I love you too
J- missing you
I told erika that I was coming home the 23 because that was the only flight left which is a lie because I'm here right now. I think I'm going to surprise her Tomorrow morning
Next day
I finally get changed at 12 due to me spending time with my dad. I get up to my room and I put on jeans and red plain hoodie. I grab erikas six year anniversary gift since I decide not to mail it to her because I wanted to do it in person. I grab my keys and stuff and head out to my truck. I drive through the slippery snow and safely get to Erika's. I hold the first in my hand as I knock on the door. Angel opens up with Daniel beside her
An- oh my god
I talk quite so erika doesn't hear
J- how are you guys
D- good and you
J- good
An- oh god come inside it's cold and you only have a sweater on
I step inside
An- your face
J- *sighs* yeah I got Into a little fight at football
D- must have been a big guy
J- does 6'5 and 234 pounds sound like a big guy
D- *smiles* it does
An- does erika know you're here
J- no I told her I was coming the 23rd
D- when was the last time we saw you
J- *chuckles* like six months ago
D- oh shit that's a long time
An- Jake you're probably dying to see her so just go up
J- *chuckles* thanks
I take my snowy vans off and head up the stairs. I push her door open and see the closet light on. I quietly walk over and see her looking at her outfit in the mirror
J- nice outfit babe
She looks at me through the mirror and a quick smile appears on her face before running over to me. She jumps into my arms and I hold her up as she wraps her arms around my neck and squeezing me
E- oh my god it's really you
J- *chuckles* yeah who else
E- I don't know but you're here
I can tell she's crying from the way her voice is. She pulls back and gives me a long kiss
E- I missed you so much you have no idea
J- I missed you too
Sentences spill out from her lips from her being so happy but the problem is they don't make sense. I slowly put her down but with her still hugging me.
J- here I have something for you
