Break time

{Jezzabelles Pov}

"Finally" I say to myself after I put away the mops and cloths into the pool closet,

I finally finished mopping and cleaning around the kings private pool downstairs now I guess it's my break since he did say I had a 30 minute break after I finished most of my cleaning today.

I walked up the creepy stairs towards the library before closing the door and exiting the library only to bump into a large figure in the hallway.

"Hello little human" A deep voice says as I looked up seeing red eyes staring down at me,

"Good morning sir" I say awkwardly noticing that it was the kings cousin now standing in front of me and that I was supposed to be polite too for the next few weeks since he will be staying for a month,

"It's actually afternoon but I guess your kind wouldn't know since you guys don't have watches" he says looking down at me with a raised brow,

"I'm sorry your highness" I say not knowing what to say to him since I don't really know how to talk to royal people in general,

"You don't have to call me that you know? I am a prince yes but this castle is not mine, just call me Ryder pink cheeks" he says with a wink as I noticed he was referring to my cheeks that are naturally pink for some strange reason,

"I wanted to ask you something actually" he says rubbing his hand on his chin as I started looking at his features on his face,

He black hair was slicked back nicely, his eyebrows were dark and one of them had a slit. His eyes were slender like the kings. His nose was like a button and his lips were tan like compared to his pale skin. His jaw was shaped like it could cut you if you touc-

"Hello? Are you okay little human?" He asks waving his hand in front of me as I shook my head before noticing I was staring at him the entire time he was talking to me,

"I'm sorry sir, what did you say?" I ask confused as he chuckles,

"Well first off, I said it's okay to call me Ryder. And second off, I was asking if you wanted to walk with me around the garden downstairs" He says smiling at me as my eyes widened,

"I don't know, I don't think the king w-" before I finished he cut me off,

"My cousin would be fine with it, after all I am the older one between us two. There's more respect for me since I'm older, but anyways he has no right to reject anything I ask for since I am also the guest here. I'm sure he's fine with the new slave hanging out with me since I am going to be here for a while and I'm going to go crazy if I don't have someone to talk too" he says with a pout as I laughed at how he was trying to do puppy eyes,

"Okay, but can I change first? These clothes are all wet now and I don't want to walk around smelling like a dog" I replied with a sigh as he laughs,

"Of course, I'll wait right here" he says pointing at the floor as I smiled before rushing to my room down the hall,

I ran quickly inside my room and closed the door while throwing my maid outfit off. I searched through my closet to look for some comfortable clothes to wear only to find dresses hanging but no pants or anything to wear comfortably.

I guess this will do. I grabbed one of the dresses off the hanger before changing and grabbing my regular sneakers instead of the heels that come with the maid uniform I always wear.

All done. Thank god. I say in my head while walking out of my room and smoothing my black hair down so I don't look crazy.

"Finished" I say standing behind Ryder who turned around to look at me with wide eyes,

"Ryder?" I say looking at him confused as he shook his head while staring at the dress I was wearing,

"A short black dress with black and white sneakers? I like your style human" He says smiling at me as I smiled awkwardly,

"The heels hurt my feet and I couldn't find any dresses that weren't large and glamorous" I say with a nervous look as he laughs,

"It's alright, I don't think you'd need anything large and glamorous just to walk in a garden anyways" he says with a shrug as I smiled before following him down the hall,

"Have you been outside of the castle lately? It's really nice" he says as I shook my head,

"I think the last time I was out was a few weeks ago" I say with a shrug as we walked out of the castle back doors to head out to the large garden behind the castle,

"Oh my god" I gasp stopping at the view of the garden,

"I told you it's nice" Ryder says with a smirk as I smiled at the large varieties of flowers they had,

"Last time I was here was when the queen showed me and my sister around the castle the first day they brought us here" I say to Ryder as we walked around the long paths of the garden,

"Last time I was here was when my cousin had me kicked out" he says while touching the flowers on his side as I looked at him confused,

"What do you mean?" I ask stopping to stand in front of him as he stares down at the roses he was touching,

"You wanna know why my cousin is known for being cold hearted?" He asks while staring at the rose in his hand,

"No" I answered as he sniffs the rose,

"His father was killed in this very garden many years ago" he says not looking up from the rose,

"He was about the same age as your sister when it happened" he says standing up straight as I frowned,

"He watched his father get decapitated right above this large row of roses" he says looking down at the pile of roses before I noticed the whole garden was filled with different colored flowers except for roses which was filled up at only the middle of the garden where we were standing next to,

"He was only a kid than, but that sight will never leave his head. Which is the same reason why he's never come out to this place since the night that it happened. His mother, my auntie, had this pile of roses planted here where his body last laid when he took his last breath. Roses were his favorite flowers" he says smiling down at the roses as I now realized the reason why the king is the way he is,

"Your highness, your lunch is ready" A voice announces as I was startled at the sudden voice out of no where,

I turned to see non other than Jessica smiling up at Ryder while twirling her hair.

"I made sure your bread was baked the way you like it, hot and ready" she says biting her lip while smiling up at him in a flirty way,

"Thank you, Jezzabelle would you like to join me for lunch?" He says turning to me as my eyes widened seeing Jessica glare at me,

"Let's go" he says quickly before I could answer as he grabs my hand and drags me towards the castle,

"Thank god, we lost her" he says turning around as soon as we got inside the castle and he closed the doors,

"That slave is so annoying" he says rolling his eyes as I chuckled,

"What did she do this time?" I ask as he rubbed his forehead exhaustedly,

"Last time I was here she waited in my room naked and wanted me to marry her on the spot" he says with a disgusted look as I laughed,

"You don't like your women hot and ready?" I ask teasingly twirling my hair around my finger as he frowned before laughing,

"I like the hot and ready but not annoying and crazy" he says as we laughed together,

"What's so funny?" A voice interjects as we turned quickly seeing Phoenix standing behind us with his arms crossed with an angry look.
