Before the ball

{Jezzabelles Pov}

"Good afternoon, cousin" Ryder says with a smile before Phoenix pushed past him without a single word grabbing my hand,

Before I could even understand what was happening, Phoenix managed to use his vampire speed to take us away from a confused Ryder. I tried to see where we were going since everything was blurry only to have everything stop when we were standing  on the large balcony on the outside of Phoenix bedroom.

"Don't talk to him" Phoenix says looking down at me with his red eyes as I noticed he was still holding my hand,

"H-he w-w-wanted t-to talk" I stuttered as his red eyes stared deeply into my hazel ones,

"Ryder isn't a good guy" He says with his deep voice that gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it,

"I don't want you to go near him again, okay?" He asks moving his hand to the side of my face as my breath hitched,

"Do you understand what I'm saying Jezzabelle?" He asks slowly tracing his thumb against my cheek bone as I felt my face turn red at the sudden contact,

"Y-y-yes Phoenix" I shuddered while trying to say the right words as I watch him stare down at me in thought before pulling away when there was a loud knock at his closed bedroom doors,

"Phoenix open this door now! I don't care whether your naked or not! I'm your mother and I do not like locked doors in my castle!" The queen shouts from the other side of the door as Phoenix groans before speeding over to the door to open it revealing his irritated mother,

"Oh! Jezzabelle your here too? Great! I can tell the both of you two the good news together" She says as I walked inside the room closing the patio doors,

"Since your cousin arrived last night and he didn't get a proper introduction to the rest of our kingdom because of how rushed I made him feel to come here, I decided to have a ball tonight to announce his arrival into our kingdom" The queen says happily clapping her hands as my eyes widened,

"The whole kingdom has already been alerted earlier today, so make sure to be ready for the ball by tonight" She says excitedly patting Phoenix head as he sat on his bed rolling his eyes,

"Oh! Jezzabelle! You will be coming with me, we need to also be ready for the ball tonight. I want everyone in the castle to look exquisite tonight" She says grabbing my arm and dragging me towards the door as Phoenix chuckles at my shocked expression,

"Come now, we will first look at our material options" She says taking me to another room in the castle as I tried to keep up with her fast footsteps,

"Every time I have a ball in my castle, I let my maids have the night off since I want every single person in my castle to enjoy themselves at the ball I host that shows everyone else coming to the ball that I have a castle full of the very best looking people living with me" She says with a wink as I nod while still trying to catch my breath,

"The male guards I have in the castle will be the ones taking care of everything for the ball, while us beautiful women will be having a great time meeting people and maybe even getting lucky with a handsome man there" She says winking at me with a smirk as I smiled back awkwardly,

"So here is my wardrobe room, you can choose whatever dress you want to wear, but right now I want you to help me choose which dress I should wear" She says as we walked into a large room with clothes everywhere we looked,

The clothes around the room were all organized by type and color. The dresses were on wall while the bottom clothes like jeans and skirts were on another wall, and shirts were on the third wall. The fourth wall was the one that stood out for the most, I never knew how much shoes a person could have until I stood in front of this large wall with a never ending glass wall with endless amounts of shoes in rows from the bottom of the floor to the top of the ceiling all piled perfectly showing both the back and the front of each shoe.
