Darwin's death still haunted me, guilt eating up inside of me. My eyes were red and puffy, tears stained my cheeks and my once straightened hair had curls flowing back through. A pang of guilt washed over my heart as I cried for the millionth time that day.
"It wasn't your fault, Svet. Trust me" Alex calmly said as I sobbed into his shoulder.
"I-I know, it's just the way he looked at us before he d-died haunts me" I cried, tears staining my cheeks again.
Moira's familiar blue ford pulled up outside the destroyed wreckage of the former Covert CIA Research Base. Charles and Erik climbed out of the car, with Moira hopping out of the driver's seat. Immediately, Charles ran over to us.
"Raven?" Charles questioned, as he ran over to us, and he and Raven enveloped one an other in a hug.
Erik walked over to the scene as I put my knees up to my chest. My hair was frayed and frizzy, my clothes were dirty since I'd passed out in them. Moira hugged me slightly as I hugged back. Erik felt sorry for my state but didn't want to express it in front of the others.
"We've made arrangements for you to be taken home" Charles announced.
"We're not going home" Sean stated.
"What?" Charles asked.
"He's not going back to prison" Sean said.
"He killed Darwin, and Svet think it's her fault!" Alex exclaimed, as I unfolded my knees from my tear-stained face.
"All the more reason for you to leave. This is over" Charles said, as I sniffled slightly with Erik walking over to me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Darwin's dead, Charles. And we can't even bury him" I snapped, grief stricken.
"We can avenge him" Erik said, with everybody looking at him.
"Erik, a word, please" Charles asked, taking Erik over to the corner where they had their conversation.
Charles looked back at us and said "We'll have to train. All of us. Yes?".
"Yeah" Alex responded.
"Well, we can't stay here" Hank said, after minutes of silence. "Even if they reopen the department, it's not safe. We've got nowhere to go".
"Yes we do" Charles responded, a smile drawing on his lips.
