𝐬𝐡𝐞.

honestly... i think im the only individual beside fez & maddy who actually knew who desi was..

it's kinda embarrassing that no one knows her but it's not her fault.

when her mother was pregnant with desi, her parents packed up everything and moved to East Highland from Mexico.

when desi was born, her parents then decided to open up a Mexican restaurant and homeschool desi.

they didn't want her to be bullied from her lack of English since most of her life , she's been taught only Spanish.

after 4 years in the US, her mother gave birth to her little sister , manny .

as desi got older, she started to learn english little by little & soon became the translator for their parents whenever they didn't understand certain english words.

and since desi was homeschooled & didn't have any friends but her sister.. she decided to also help manny learn english & spanish .

by age 14 & 10 , desi and manny was helping their parents with the restaurant as well as teaching them more and more english which wasn't easy to say the least.

soon enough their families restaurant started getting more and more attention as people from all over East Highland visited their restaurant.

that's when desi's mother, Rosa reconnected with her old bestfriend from Mexico...Maddy Perez's Mom , Sonia.

when sonia walked into the restaurant one night with her family, Rosa was ecstatic.

they talked all night till closing & even got each other's phone numbers.

soon enough , the Perez's & the Santiago's were having barbecue parties together, vacations together, and even considered eachother family.

since their parents were bestfriends, desi & manny spent a lot of time over maddy's house.

and since desi & maddy were the same age, they became inseparable.

maddy would do desi & mannys makeup and talk about boys when they came over her house & desi and manny would teach maddy Spanish when she came over their house.

but at 16 , desi had started working small shifts at her parents restaurant to earn money for things that she needed and since desi was homeschooled, her and maddys friendship started to weaken day by day. when desi realized maddy had stop coming with her parents to eat at the restaurant on Fridays, desi accepted that her and maddys friendship was gone...

by 17, desi had already been working full time at her parents restaurant to distract herself from wanting to have a real teenage experience like having a boyfriend or going to homecoming or even going on a date with a boy & having her first kiss..

maddy's parents were still really close with desi's parents & still continued to eat there on Fridays as their little family tradition.

it started to seem like life was too good to be true,
until one particular Friday night changed the lives of everyone including desi forever.
