the view from up here: musings on why i fell

116 10 2

there is no "up"
it never existed
i need simply
look hard enough
to give myself vertigo
there is no falling
if there is no "down"
there is only "here"
and "there"
and the manner in which
you move to and from
because
one glance and
evergreens are gliding towards me
a dizzy top i'm translated
could that not be called falling
if the air beneath me has
decided to scurry?
though the earth
still holds up two legs
they are not steady
and what if i'm caught
in the earths gravity?
orbiting for years
a circlet crown
a single ring of saturn
invisible to my own eye
but still falling nonetheless
doesn't it count
if you coaxed me
towards you and
suddenly my peripheral vision
ceased to transpire
and i fixated on one pinpoint in space
you weren't a direction
but a celestial behemoth
with its own moons. own voice
if i had no choice
but to let your arms become oxygen
is that not what we call falling?

a/n: someone shut my brain up she's annoying lol
