“Is breaking and entering something you do often, Elizabeth?” Alice Cooper asked her daughter while turning over another stack of notebooks.

“Kind of, but this isn’t breaking and entering. This is Jughead’s room too. He said that I’m welcome here whenever I want, which includes when all the stuck up preppies are in class.”

Betty was so intent on the drawer she was searching, that she didn’t hear the door open. Neither did her mother.

“Not all of them, I’m afraid.”

Betty whirled around to see Brett standing in the doorway.

“What the hell are you and, I’m assuming your mother, doing here, Blondie?”

“I’m simply trying to find some incriminating evidence you have on my friend, Moose Mason.”

“And what would that be exactly?”

“He says you have a sex tape of him, recorded in this room. He says it’s part of a collection you have. Tell me, do you get off on recording your own porn or something?”

“Question. Has your friend ever laid eyes on this alledged collection? Does he have evidence that it even exists?”

“Question,” Betty shoots back, “Do you have a tape of me and Jughead?”

“Oh my god, Elizabeth!” Mrs. Cooper gasped.

“Calm down, Mom,” Betty waved her mother down, still looking intently at Brett’s face, waiting for some sort of reaction or answer.

“Of course not, Ponytail.”

Betty breathed a sigh of relief.

“But if I did happen to have a tape of you and Forsythe, it’s lucky that I’m such a nice guy because something like that could really ruin you.”

Betty cursed under her breath. If that wasn’t a confession of guilt, she didn’t know what was. She clenched her fists.

“Anyway, if you two get out right now, I might be nice enough not to tell Jones about your little visit. Or, if you want, you could just come with me to Chemistry class and you could tell him yourself.”

Betty laughed at this.

“Was that supposed to be a threat? Oh no! Please don’t tell my boyfriend!” She mocked. “I’m obviously not going to keep this a secret from him. By all means, let’s go. I hope your Chem teacher’s cool with it.”

Brett’s smirk dropped off his face.

“Elizabeth Cooper-”

“Chill out, mom, you can go back home, and I’ll meet you there later.”

“How will you get back to Riverdale?”

“I’ll take the train.”

“Fine, but we are going to talk about this later.”

“Can’t wait.”

Alice rolled her eyes and left the room.

Betty turned back to Brett, who was definitely not smiling now.

“What? An empty threat, was it? Sucks for you, lead on.”

He had no choice but to get to class. He walked into class a few minutes early. The professor wasn’t there yet. The two of them saw Jughead sitting in a chair near the corner, reading a book.

“Jones,” Brett started, “Ponytail’s here to see you.”

Jughead’s head whipped up. A smile broke out on his face before quickly being masked with a look of confusion, and then worry.
