"Sensai, there's no way-" Leo begins to speak, but Raph has him thrown against the wall in a matter of seconds, pushing his forearm hard against his brothers throat, choking him.
"Raph, stop!" I protest, standing up alongside everyone else who is shouting their own words at the red-clad turtle.
"Raphael, that's enough!" Splinters tail wraps around Raph's ankle. He pulls his tail back roughly, causing Raphael to fall on his face. He groans in pain as his sais clank hard onto the ground. There is silence save for Leo coughing loudly and gasping for air.
This situation got really bad, really fast. I find myself grasping Violet's hand and she saves me a confused look. Leo is in love with me? I didn't even think he liked me. Like as a person. She leans towards me and whispers: "this is not how I saw our detective work going."
I nod in response, watching as Raph stands up and cradles his jaw.
"Both of you, enough." Master Splinter says, turning on his heel. He looks at me and Violet for a few seconds before he bows his head. "Mikey, Donatello, walk them home. Make sure they're safe."
"Yes, Sensai." Donnie says as the rat disappears back to where he came from.
"No, no, no, Sensai, you can't leave us like this!" Mikey yells, wanting to run after Splinter, but then stops when he sees me walk towards Raph.
"Raph, I-" I want to step towards him, but Donnie blocks my view.
"I think it's best if we just go." he says, peering down at me. I look at him with anger before shoving his chest. It does nothing to him. How could he lie to Raph? How could he keep this big of a secret from his brother?
"I want to talk to Raph." I say, turning to go past Donnie, but he turns so that he's blocking my view again. I catch a slight glimpse of Raph still cradling his jaw as he picks up his sais, his breathing hard.
"That's not the best idea." Donnie starts to say, but then Leo speaks, causing Donnie to stiffen.
"It's okay, Donnie." his voice is raspy as he stands upright. Donnie steps aside and Leo looks at me. I purse my lips into a straight line upon feeling his gaze on me. "I'm sorry." he looks at Raphael as he says this. "I didn't mean to hurt you."
Raph doesn't look at him, he's clearly trying to contain his anger. His eyes are dark as they stare at the ground, and he keeps clenching and un-clenching his fists.
"You can't be in love with me, you don't even know me." I say, stepping forward slightly. Leo flinches a bit as I say this.
"That's true." he says, his voice almost as soft as mine. He then looks into my eyes, but I don't get that same safe feeling I get when I look into Raph's. "I can't explain anything right now. Maybe we'll talk some other time."
"Like hell you will." Raph spits darkly, stepping towards Leo. A part of me is scared that they're going to fight, or that Raph will attack him again, but I also know him. I know that he won't try something again after Master Splinter slammed his body to the ground. He's obviously in pain. "You lied to me." Raph gets closer to him, practically raging. "I spent weeks, months trying to get over her and I never did. Now I know that I was an idiot. It all makes sense now." Raph chuckles humorlessly.
"Let's all just sit down, we can talk-" Leo wants to say, but Raph quickly holds his one of his sais to his brothers throat, the metal forming a slight dent in Leo's skin, though it doesn't pierce it. Everyone is silent, the tension so thick it's weighing everyone down.
"Do not come near her... ever... again." he slowly pulls his sai back and put it away as he allows his threat to hang in the air. He walks towards me and for some reason I feel fear wash over me. I've never seen Raph like this before, and I've definitely never feared him before.
