PART FIVE

THIRD PERSON POV
Garnet watched as Steven fell, and his gem glowed.

"PEARL!" Garnet yelled, making her run in.

"What's happening?!" Pearl asked, running towards Steven, however, she backed up after a bright light flashed making everyone fall over.

It was brief and quick. They heard Steven ask them what was happening, but they never got to the chance to answer.

When they finally stood back up, all there was a diamond-shaped gem lying on the floor.

"S-Steven?" Pearl asked, shakily.

"Hh-he poofed...?" Garnet got out.

Amethyst and Connie rushed in, after seeing the bright light.

"What's happening?!" Connie asked, not seeing Steven anywhere.

Pearl just looked where the gem was, her hands over her mouth. Tears were starting to well in her eyes.

Garnet walked over to the gem, gently picking it up. She cupped her hands, the gem in the middle.

"Is that...Steven?" Amethyst asked, shock spread across her face.

Garnet took off her visors, tears pricking the corner of all her eyes.

"Is he going to reform as...Steven?" Connie asked.

"I'm...im not sure..." Garnet said.

She brought the to gem up to her face, "Hey, Steven, im not sure if you can hear me in there...I hope you can, it'll be ok...im sure of it." She said.

She walked over to the others, holding the diamond.

"So...I guess we have to wait..." Amethyst said, sadly.

"Yeah... I guess so," Garnet said, placing the gem on a cushion Pearl had grabbed off the couch.

STEVENS POV
I felt my body get forced down and then I didn't feel it at all. I again felt myself lying on the floor, but...

What floor? The area I was in felt new, and different. Like I'd never been there before..but still had a familiar feeling.

It was strange. Eventually, I got the strength to sit up, looking around. It looked like Mom's room, but more open and no exit.

"Garnet? Pearl? Amethyst?" I called out, but I didn't get an answer.
It was quiet..until I heard a ding.

"Upgrade commencing," the voice said. It was soft and echo through the area.

Upgrade? What did it mean? I looked around and stood up. I felt the cloud beneath me move, and take me somewhere.

I looked around and I saw some light-up buttons, each on saying upgrade.

I didn't press any, I didn't know what it was, and I had a weird feeling about pressing it.

I was walking and felt the right side of
my body gets lifted and fall right back down.

"What the-" I saw a pink arm...

What did that mean? I then felt a jolt of pain from my shoulder. Falling to my knees I held into my shoulders trying to get rid of the pain.

"Upgrade starting," the voice said. It started to burn, and more pain was shooting through. I just held my shoulder, nothing helping the pain.

All I could feel was the pain, it burned, and it felt like as if my arm were being ripped off again.

I felt my eyesight get blurry, again. When will the passing out stop!? But I let myself go into that dark.

THIRD PERSON POV
Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst, and Connie didn't know what to do.

A couple of hours passed...soon a couple days...

Those days turned weeks, which turned to months till there was even a sign of Steven coming back.

One day, Pearl came back from Little Homeworld, and saw the gem glowing.

"GARNET! COME IN, QUICK!" She said happily. She was washed over with joy, the thought that Steven might be coming back, it compelled her.

Garnet ran in, with Amethyst behind. Connie was at school, so she couldn't be there.

The glowed, as it rose. They watched in awe. But then, it fell.

"WOAH!" pearl dived to catch the gem.

"What...is he not reforming them?" Amethyst asked lightly.

"I-...i guess not..." Pearl said, head hung low. Just then, the gem ticked, falling out of her hands. Garnet caught it this time.

"Maybe...he's trying? What else could explain this?" Garnet said. He put the gem onto the cushion, and the made a nest with the blankets from Stevens room.

"There, they should keep him grounded. "

STEVEN POV

I woke up, no more pain in my arm. I looked to see what had happened, and saw a half-formed arm!

I still needed to find out where I was. I got up, with no problems. I walked around for a bit, nothing but the soft pink and fluffy clouds in sight.

Soon, I saw something cause a breeze, it looked like a dress? I jogged over. When I turned, I saw curly pink hair...
