I followed dad into the conference room. I sat near the entrance and looked around the brightly lit room. I wasn't sure why I was here. Dad sat in the center, around familiar faces.
I looked over at the clock. Jungkook must be having his party to celebrate his discharge from the hospital around now...I was about to call the others when dad spoke. Everyone was silent and listened to him intently. The room buzzed with excitement.
The lights went out and the conference presentation began. Master Plan for the Redevelopment of Downtown Songju.
The reason I was in this meeting was because dad had called me. His secretary called me. I tried to get out of it by telling her I had an appointment but I didn't think it would work.
On our way here dad asked me if I was still hanging out with those "so called friends" of mine. I didn't answer. He wasn't asking a question. He was belittling them...reproaching me for getting along with them. He wanted me to cut ties with them.
He didn't even look at me. He told me:
"Don't waste your time on nothing. I'm telling you this out of experience. Besides, you'll have to help out a lot here. Try to learn as much as you can. You'll grow into an adult worth your salt soon enough that way."
