Chapter 6: The Art Of Avoidance

After a few moments of thought I followed after the boys. Skillfully jumping up the steps. My muscles tightening with every movement.

After so many years I had discovered a way to prolong shifting when in the Lab, but now that I was out the was no way to lengthen the time in my body. I would have to shift sometime soon, or it wouldn't be up to me anymore. It would be pushed by my wolf.

I rounded a few corners to the kitchen, the walls where a plain white with group photoessays and nature shot lined against them. The father down I went the doors were becoming more and more populated. Almost every 9 feet all along the sides.

When I walked into the grand room, pack members were bustling here and there to get the food out to the hungry crowd. I slip through two ladies carrying 3 heaping plates of potatoes and stakes on, each arm.

The word anarchy and chaos didn't even describe the dinning room. The kitchen looked so neat and orderly compared to the jumble of discolored tables and mismatched chairs. Members talked to one another loudly, their mouths open as they chewed, some even leaned across the table cutting off another while on their hunt for food.

I knew pack feeding times were barbaric, but this was the first time I had ever a chance to see the proof before my eyes.

I followed the ever so lovely voice that could only belong to my Trent.

Wait...MY Trent? When had I suddenly claimed him as my own?

'Just now you insufferable humanoid creation!'

A voice rang in my head.

'No you did'

I challenged back.

Not my best idea arguing with my wolf surrounded by natural wolves with food, but what can I said?

'No you!'

'No you!'

'No you!'

'No you!'

'No you!'

'This is getting us no where but closer to hungry, territorial wolves, so let's just agrees to disagree shall we?'

I shot back at her.

'Fine, let's'

'Thank you'

With that note I blocked her out of my thoughts and produced to the farthest table near the end, where the most delicious scent was coming from.

An interesting thing about mates:

Anything can atract you to one another, scent, pictures, sparks, sometimes items. But what seals the deal and starts the bond is looking into each others eyes. Something that I was advoding.
