A shiver ran down my spine
as your hand brushed mine.
Our fingers later intertwined
as you made a promise.
A promise you couldn't keep.
A lie that you were never going to leave me.
A lie that our love would last forever.
Six months later,
you left me.
Six months later,
you fell in love with someone else
as I continued to love you as much
as I did before.
I guess promises are supposed to be broken,
but I didn't realise ours was.
Maybe you were just full of broken promises.
Broken promises like this.
Broken promises that broke my heart into pieces.
That broke ME into pieces.
