Before I start I'd like to say this story is inspired by a oneshot series called 'One of Them' by Andie_AmericanPsycho (it's a 7 part one).
It's such a great little story and inspired me to write a bigger, more detailed one.
So go check out their work because all the oneshots are great.
Now onto the story!

*Your outfit*
I sighed, walking down the filthy streets of our much loved Gotham City, the early morning sun coating everything in sight.
Don't get me wrong this city is absolutely beautiful, once you overlook the infestation of criminals and garbage.
I was on my way to work when I saw a TV store, multiple screens showing the recent news on the Arkham breakout.
"Can Gotham just sleep for one night?" I groaned internally, continuing to the GCPD.
Timeskip to GCPD
I walked into the precinct smiling at everyone and saying my good mornings.
"Had by few but treasured by all, I'm on the inside and outside and I make men fall" my best friend Ed asked enthusiastically. I always loved his riddles.
"Oh c'mon Eddie, at least give me a challenge. It's beauty" I smiled and we both laughed.
"And your looking beautiful this morning" he smiled.
"Awww Eddie thank you" I said returning the friendly gesture.
"(Y/n)!" I heard Harvey call.
"Sorry Eddie, duty calls" I smiled, hugging him.
"Bye (Y/n)" he said before I left.
"Hey Harv, Jim" I greeted, hugging my two father figures. "Hows things?"
"Everything with the Maniax is driving me crazy" Jim sighed, slumped over his desk.
"Yeah no kiddin', can't they take a break" Harvey sighed.
"I wish" I muttered, my expression changing when Essen came out of her office.
"Morning Captain" I smiled.
"Good morning (Y/n)" she smiled back. "So any leads on this case?"
"None that led anywhere, we're in the dark" Jim informed.
"Well keep looking, your detectives so find something" she said before walking off.
"I can't tell if her confidence in us is comforting or annoying" I said watching the captain leave.
