The student council (plus selected students) of Hoshinoumi Academy are tasked to search for children with special abilities throughout Japan to give them education and solace. Little did they know that they're about to unravel the mystery behind their ability along the way.
Review:
Before the Boku no Hero quirk-with-a-catch trope, there was Charlotte's special-ability-with-a-downside. This anime doesn't really focus on fighting, they basically treat people with abilities the same way with mentally-ill patients - confinement but in a school setting. The concept is good and has somehow condensed all the goodsht it has to offer in a mere 12-episode-series.
If ever you are wondering, Charlotte is the name of the comet/meteor/asteroid which granted them abilities. It played a huge part in the ending including Yuu's new found power.
You should watch this, aside from the cute Nao-Yuu ship, the students with their flawed but awesome powers are just refreshing to the eyes.
