I hope you have enjoyed reading this first draft story.  I wrote it for NaNoWriMo (that's National Novel Writing Month,) for November, 2014.  We were supposed to write a 50,000 word novel in thirty days.  I wrote this between four and six in the morning, during that month.  I finished six days over, with a word count of about 78,000. You can read my journal of that experience in my Wattpad story NaNoWriMo 2014 Journal. In order to keep that a useful tool for learning about how a novel can come together, I am leaving this version as it is, to preserve the mistakes as well as the successes.

This book has now been substantially revised and then published, on Amazon, CreateSpace, and Smashwords.

Please remember that this version you just read is the first draft, not anything that has been revised or prepared for commercial publication. The commercial version is on Amazon and other online retailers. Just search for Brian Groover, and you'll find my published books. There are three so far, and I'm working hard on the fourth. Purchasing my books is the best kind of compliment!

I have two future stories planned for this series, and several more ideas:

Otter, which centers on Otter and includes interactions with Neanderthals as well as other tribes. This is definitely next.

Ivy, which will be the first instance in which Gerleesh occupies a female host.

And possibly

- a story in which Gerleesh occupies a Neanderthal

- a story in which Gerleesh occupies a violent and brutal character. What happens to Gerleesh's essential character when that happens?

- a story in which Gerleesh finally discovers a stable method of coexisting with human hosts, interfering little but learning to help the humans move forward without killing each other.

If you enjoyed this story, please do go write a review of it. That, more than anything, will help the next story come to life. I plan to go back to writing that one as soon as I have a few more reviews on this one. Until I do get more reviews, though, I have to focus my attention on other projects. Books live and die based on the Amazon reviews. Nothing else helps a book succeed like good Amazon reviews. Nothing.

Thank you very much for reading!  If you liked it, please vote on the chapters, tell others about it, leave comments on it, and read and enjoy my other stories.
