RAMONA MISSED HER first Hogsmeade trip the next morning to bake. It was the Saturday before the first task, and she wanted to he sure she could finish the recipe before the essence of Bow-Truckle dried up and was no longer useful. The amount she had collected could make a small batch of about six raspberry tarts. And while tarts were not a particularly complicated, nor time consuming item to bake— she expected it would take at least an hour to prepare and combine the shavings of bark in a way that was edible.
The combination of magic and basic muggle baking was quite complicated, admittedly, but Ramona delighted in the challenge. She stole Zoey's muggle record play to cart to the kitchens— and wasted the morning away swaying to the works of the Bee Gee's and Elton John whilst testing repeated trials of the tart filling with very small amounts of the bark (at one point stepping into the great hall to grab Neville Longbottom, one of few students left in the castle, to help with her trials.)
