What is love?

I had to put myself in Sky's shoes and see how it feel to a mother and have your baby father sit around on his ass all day. It's hard I didn't know as a person I put her through so much shit and told her it'll be okay or get over it it's not that bad while I was doing me and she was pregnant with my child. I decided to go to my mother's house so she can put some sense into my head about this situation.

"Hey momma, how are you" Devin said as he let him in the house and kissed his mother on the cheek.

"I'm good, how's Sky and legend?" She asked as she dried off the plates and set it on the table.

Devin rubbed his head and sighed loudly as he was about to talk, his mother already knew what happened cause Sky told her before Legend was born.

"Aht aht, what you did now!" His mother said as she gave him the look and folded her arms.

"When legend was born I wasn't there to witness the birth of my son, I was with my homeboys and told sky my boys are more important than me being there." Devin held his head down and his mother smack him on the back of his head.

"Devin Raheem, what the fuck you was thinking, your homeboys don't do shit but sit around and play the game and dodge bullets all day. You rather sit around that and not be there for Sky are you serious I didn't raise you like that just because your father left when you was younger that doesn't mean you do the same for your son. It creates a hate pattern, you hated your father he left because of drugs and he felt like that was more important than you. That's what you're doing to Legend." Dian said as stared at Devin for about 30 seconds before shaking her head.

"I know ma and I'm sorry I told Sky I love her after all the things I done to her, and she got so frustrated she lashed out on me and told me to cut the bs and she started crying." He rubbed his face and looked back at his moms as she gave him a unreadable face.

"That's not love, love don't mean sit around all day while the mother of your child have to work and have to come home, cry over foolishness. You wasn't there for your first born birth you decided not to come and support her you can't take that back now. I love you Devin but as my son I didn't raise you like that and play victim but I'll be damned if you act like that. Sky put everything on the side for you, she even hold off her music but you kept pushing her one day she will find a young man and she will forget all about you, and you gone want her time back and the love she gave you back. I will not tolerate the disrespect you shown that girl she's 22 years old and you're 25 years old you shouldn't act like a damn 5 year old when things doesn't come your way. Both of you have a one year old child that should always comes first whatever and whenever. You should never put things thats not important in front of Legend nor Sky because those are your heart. You co parent with Sky and that's why you're in the situation you're in because you have to learn and it's a pattern that I have dealt with your father before you was born, and now it's passed on to you. You have the power to control what's in front of you I given you all the guidance I can as a mother to help you now you're in the predicament where you do everything else to save yourself and your family.

Devin thought about what his mother said and it repeated in his head "you have the power to control what's in front of you" he thought about it and he don't want Legend end up hating him because of what his father did to him and don't want it to create a pattern later on.

"You right mom, I do have the power but I let everything get the best of me and I start acting like I didn't have no home training. You didn't raise me to be like this and I have no right disrespecting Sky not you like that. My punishment is Sky finding a guy far from like me and him raising Legend to be like him, and I have nothing but people backlashing me over things like that." Devin held his head down and rubbed his face.

His mother lift his head up and told him to get up and hugged him, she felt his pain go right through her.

"You know you have two siblings that look up to you, De'Andre and Damiya they are counting on you and I stopped De'Andre from following in your footsteps and he's only 21 and Damiya only 15 can end up pregnant and have the father not give a damn about her. You have the power to stop things like this Dev." His mother said as she wiped the tears off his face.

Now he felt what it feels to be in Sky's shoes, and he now have to the power to do whatever he's holding back go. So another man won't take his place and raise his seed to be like him.
