Saturday 25th April

Noah was sitting in bed, his PS4 controller on the side having paused his game. 'Shit' he thought, running his right hand through his hair. 'How did the conversation take this turn?'

Afia was just telling him what her friend had said and how she admitted liking him. He knew that she did but just reading it then made it hit home. They didn't know each other, it had been a few weeks of talking, it was fun but did he want this?

He knew he was getting feelings but he felt a sense of coldness overcome him. Not physical coldness but inside his body. He needed to numb his emotions. His mind was all over the place. He began typing, trying to get away from the conversation.

Noah: Had a bit of a weird day with some grandad shit so my heads just a bit of a mess. Cool if I just sleep on it and text you tomorrow?

She started typing straight away, she must've been confused at the turn of events but she was taking it well and not being dramatic like he would've expected from chicks.

Afia: It's okay, if you ever want to talk about that then you can, don't worry even if you want to cool off for a couple of days or whatever. I'll let you text me first

He felt lost, how was his mind swirling with thoughts and she was calm, collected, giving space like it meant nothing? Was she like this in reality too? Either way, he appreciated it.

Noah: Thank you and thank you again, just so you know you've done nothing wrong at all. It's just me

Afia: No need to say thanks. I'll let you be for tonight then x

Noah: Okay I'll text you, hope you have a nice evening x

With that he closed Whatsapp and put his phone aside. He knew that he wouldn't have a peaceful evening. His phone buzzed again and he picked up his phone to look at the message without opening the chat. She had sent another message.

Afia: If you think it's something you don't want to go through, feel free to be honest yeah

Noah groaned, 'she probably thinks that I don't want to talk to her anymore'. He could feel a headache coming, was this worth stressing about? He had said so himself; he didn't know whether he actually liked her or it was this lockdown making the situation seem sweeter and more real than it was.

They had even made a goddamn list of dates. A whole fucking list! Wait, more like a bloody scroll. 'Is this what he wanted?' He asked himself that question.

Sure he was on a dating app, he wanted to go on dates and find someone worth his time and he found Afia but he didn't want to get his hopes up without meeting her.

He laid down on his bed and closed his eyes for a few minutes to help relax. He had to go deal with family matters and his grandad's death. That was more important. With that resolve, he got up and went to spend time with his family pushing the thought of Afia to the back of his mind.
