"Are there different ranks in the Hill?" You ask.

"Sure, the highest position is Chief, then the Oldens, after that it's the Meðal-claw and their apprentice. If the Chief has any children, the heirs come next. Under that is the General, then the heads of Battle-claw and Scribe-claw training. then come their teachers, and claws that aren't, their apprentices, and the claws that aren't old enough for apprenticeships. Lastly the young ones like you, that's how it works." Said Nightwatcher.

"Great, I'm at the bottom," You whined.

"Right now you are, just give it a couple years and you may become Chief, then you'll be able to share what you learn here with your entire tribe," He comforted.

"Yeah, maybe I will."

if anyone found that a bit confusing (I know I did, I think I wrote and rewrote that five times) here is a list:
Chief (Nepal, Arietty)
Oldens (elders)
Meðal-claw (Sarah)
M apprentice (Jay)
heirs (Zach, Zara)
General (Rusty)
Heads of Training (Nyra and unnamed claw)
Teachers (Sierra etc.)
Regular Hunters (they hunt!)
apprentices (lots of these)
claws that aren't old enough (Portofira, etc.)
kits
