You finally noticed,
It feels like hours,
Days,
Months,
Years have gone by,
And not one glance,
Not one acknowledgment,
To you I’m just a silhouette on the wall,
A shadow at your feet,
Someone you know will always be there no matter how bad it gets,
In ways I am a shadow,
Forced to tether to you,
Not side by side like equals but at your feet like an animal,
I can never leave,
Bound to you like the starving animal you made me,
Feeding on the bone of attention you throw me,
Used to the pain I remain a slave perishing in the shadows,
But I’m still here.
