JJ and Gina sat on her bed, still thinking over the shit with the Royal Merchant. "I just don't understand how it wasn't there," Gina repeated for the hundredth time.

"I don't know," JJ sighed, holding her hand in his and playing with her fingers. "Big John seemed so confident the gold would be there."

She nodded. "I feel bad for John B. I think he thought if he found the gold, he would find his dad somehow."

"Yeah, I think you're right."

"Hey, how were things at your house last night? Or did you stay at John B's?" Gina asked. JJ hadn't spent the night at her house, so she assumed he had gone home for once.

"It was fine," he said. "Dad was passed out most of the time, so that usually makes it pretty okay."

"Are you guys okay after your dad getting fired?" Gina didn't want to pry, but she had to make sure he was eating when he wasn't living with her and her mom.

"I-I think we'll be okay. You know my dad, he'll find some way to make money."

She looked up at JJ, a worried look on her face. "JJ, are you sure you don't want to just live here? It would be great you could--"

"How did I get so lucky to have some like you care so much about me?" his eyes flickered down to her lips and she felt her heart rate pick up. She let her eyes slowly trail from his blue eyes down to his lips and she realized just how much she wanted to kiss him. His hands slowly went to her cheek and he raised his eyebrows as if asking if it was okay. She bit her lip before timidly kissing him. It was short, neither of them sure what the other was comfortable with.

They pulled away and rested their foreheads against each other's. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," JJ whispered.

"Well then, why don't you do it again, lover boy?" she said cockily.

JJ didn't need to be told twice. He crashed his lips into her's and pulled her into his lap before he fell back on the bed so that she was straddling him. "You're the most beautiful girl in the world, you know that, right, Regina?"

She blushed at her full name and shook her head. "You're full of shit."

Gina leaned down to kiss him, but he gently stopped her. "No, I'm not," he sat up with her still in his lap. "You're the best thing in my life, Gina."

She grinned, the sun light pouring in the window making her smile even more radiant. "Just kiss me, you goof."

They both smiled into the kiss, their hands exploring each other's bodies. Gina's fingers played with the edge of JJ's sweatshirt before hesitantly pulling it over his head. At some point, Gina had lost her button up and was just in her tight green tank top and shorts.

The door squeaked on its hinges and Gina and JJ sprang apart, JJ toppling off the bed. "Hi Ms. Dennis," he said awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.

Amelia stood in the door way gaping like a fish. "I- what- how long has this been- You know what? I'm just gonna leave. All I care about is this door staying open, okay?"

"Love you too, Mom!" Gina cringed as Amelia retreated back down the hallway. She flopped back down on her bed and JJ crawled up next to her. "Well, that might have just been the most awkward moment of my life."

"I think you're Mom officially hates me now," JJ muttered. "Guess I can say good bye to sneaking in your window."

"She doesn't hate you. You just might have to sleep on the couch from now on," Gina teased. "Are we still meeting Kie and Pope at the movies?"

JJ groaned. "But I'd much rather stay here with you." His hand started to make their way under her tank top again.

She swatted his hands away and pointed at the wide open door. "I don't think so. Come on, let's get ready to head out."

He sighed but pulled his sweatshirt back on and followed her out of the room.

"Good, now that you're not all over each other I have a favor to ask you, JJ. The whole reason I'm scared for life in the first place."

"Mom!" Gina protested.

JJ tried not to laugh. "What can I do for you, Ms. Dennis."

"I'm having car trouble and I figured you were the best person to look at it," Amelia explained.

"I'd be happy to take a look at it, ma'am," JJ said.

"Don't try to act all sweet and innocent with me, Maybanks," Amelia crossed her arms. "Now get out there, fix my car, and I might just forget what I saw in Gina's room."

JJ smiled at the closest person he had to a parental figure. "Yes, ma'am."
