The symbolic weight of the envelope was pulling her hands down to her feet,

Though, in reality, the envelope weighed just a tad heavier than a pillow sheet.

She shook the envelope vigorously, and, in turn, heard something ruffle inside

It definitely was not paper, but she could not know what it was even if she tried.

Could it be a dagger, a Swiss knife - oh my God, what if it was a gun?

I need to know what it is - I'll just take a peak and then I'd be done!

Still standing by the coat rack, she opened the envelope slowly as not to make a sound

But then she paused midway and looked at her surroundings - What if I was suddenly found?

After all, she wasn't necessarily hiding, but she was too anxious to move,

Oh, so what if he found me? It's not like I have any morals that I need to prove

That I posses to him or to anyone else, so I'll just open it quickly and be done with it,

Because yes I have nothing to prove, but he gets really annoying when he throws a big fit!

She opened it completely and then, before she knew it, she reached her arm down and grabbed the thing

She then let the large envelope drop, and she stared at the object that managed to bring

Feelings of confusion and bewilderment, for it was a small box, a black one at that

But then she swiftly realized what it was, and her once bewildered face lied flat.

She was physically unable to stop herself as she opened the box with a shaking hand,

Only to find it empty, and at this point, what she was feeling she could not understand.

"I knew you wouldn't resist," his voice startled her in full swing

She then turned around in order to face him, only to find him on his knees

Holding a ring.
