I used to play make-believe,
Pretend that someone loved me.
Drop my pain at a stranger's door--

All my friends and otherwise
Would say that we'd harmonize.
Explain why I'd feel all giddy
'Cause you fucked me up emotionally.
That time when night is both old and young--
Surreal starlight, mischievous moonlight.

I never have a clue why I then think of you.
I tell myself all these lies.
It shouldn't be a surprise--
You're a fucking devil in disguise.
I know it isn't wise,
But I'll still agonize--
Devil in disguise.
But I can't criticize,
I'll try to compromise--
We're both devils in disguise.
You'd bang your head and rebel.
Agreed with me, I couldn't tell.
Wished you'd stay, and leave me alone.
I cursed your smile, and then I cursed my own.
I think we're just too alike,
separated and not alright.
And would you even know my face?
Sick with myself 'cause you're on my bookcase.
I hold a few idols in my heart.
You remind me of my favorite star,
But he's a better person
Than you've shown you are.

Nostalgia, looking back on nothing.
