"I think the Jedi were wrong," Rey burst out, starting Ben from where he was floating. They were levitating beside one another, and holding rocks with their minds around them. Ben opened one of his eyes to look at her.

"What?"

"I don't know." She paused before taking a deep breathe. "I just feel like there is so much that the Jedi failed to teach. There is so much more to the force that sitting in mid air lifting rocks."

He turned fully to face her, still holding is rocks. "What are you suggesting Rey?"

"We've spent days and days trying to connect with the Jedi, to no avail. And I've spent ages showing you all Luke taught me, but neither of us are getting anywhere. We are both very powerful and skilled, and none of the Jedi's training methods are making us more so. We've reached the top of what they can teach us."

Ben looked around thoughtfully, and Rey honestly wondered if he would agree with her; she had spent a long time convincing him to the nightside, and now here she was trying to get him to go backwards, after the going forward nearly torn him apart.

"I thought you might say something like that one of these days," he said, seemingly unperturbed. "You were always called to the dark, as I was called to the light." He smiled slightly, the afternoon sun lighting him up from behind.

"So you aren't angry with me?"

"Why would I be angry at you?" He said, almost laughing.

"I brought you back to the light. Its all I did the whole time I've known you. And now for me to say I think I was wrong in doing that, surely that would feel terrible. We were cruel to one another and we fought, in order to win each other over. And I won. And now I'm asking you to change again. What kind of a person does that, Ben?"

Ben's rocks dropped to the ground and he somersaulted to the forest floor. Rey followed suit, narrowly avoiding hitting him over the head with a stone.

He stepped towards her, and took her face in his hands, kindness radiating from every aspect of him. "Nothing you could ever do would make you a bad person. You have defended the people you love, and you have figured out who you are, and you have become stronger than any Jedi could hope to be. I am incredibly proud of you. And I could never be mad at you wanting to explore other aspects of your power." Despite herself, twin tears slipped down her face, before he brushed them away.

Rey couldn't think beyond him, infront of her. What he was saying.

"I- for so long I thought I was nobody. I was nobody. And to realise that power inside me... it was terrifying. And I guess it was the same for you, to know that well of power lay just beneath your skin." He nodded. "And now, I feel like it is my... duty to all the past generations to connect where they could not. And I'm scared of what it means."

Her body shook, and he brought her to his chest, resting his chin on her head.

"You'd be stupid not to. We'll figure it out. Together."

Rey was teetering at the edge of a cliff she had been standing on the edge of for a long time.

"Sometimes I don't know how I lived without you," he said quietly.

She looked up, tears wiped from her eyes. "What?"

"I never really lived as Kylo Ren," he gritted out. "The man I was was never alive, just living. The first time I saw you, something... clicked. I would have died if I had not met you. Whether at Snoke's had or my own, I was doomed.

"You make me want to live, Rey. Not just survive, or exist, but live."

"What are you saying, Ben," she uttered her eyes locked on his.

"I love you," whispered Ben Solo, leaning his forehead against hers.

"I know," Rey said back, closing her eyes, having known it for a long time and allowing herself to fall off that cliff and into the unknown.
