Clary's POV

"Come on let's get out of here." She said, tracing her stele over the chains wrapped around her friends. Isabelle and Jace rubbed their wrist in relief when the chains finally fell to the floor.

They started to walk toward the door, but Alec stayed in place.

"Alec, come on. We have to go." Simon told him.

He just shook his head. "I can't." Magnus had never said he couldn't talk to Simon and Clary.

"What? Why?" Maia asked.

He pointed to the rune on his side, opposite from his parabatai rune. "Loyalty rune."

Clary took a second to let that sink in.

"Just go," Alec sighed. "Before Magnus figures out your here."

"Wait, Magnus is here too?"

"We're not leaving you, Alec." Jace's voice was firm, but his eyes were uncertain.

"You don't really have a choice. Just, please. Get out of here while you still can."

"He's right," Maia pointed out. "Before someone notices us. I don't know about you, but I'm not really in the mood to fight right now."

So they ended up dragging Jace out of the warehouse. He shouted in protest, kicking and thrashing, but they weren't letting go. Clary couldn't believe no one came after them. When they finally got out of the warehouse, they let Jace go. He yelled at them, trying to go back.

"Jace, we can't. He can't leave the room."

"He'll be fine, Jace."

"You better be right."

Alec's POV

Magnus entered the room, pacing back and forth across its length.

"Why didn't you try to stop them?" Alec asked.

"There was no reason too," Magnus replied, his voice as emotionless as his facial expression. "Besides, I wanted to see if they would leave you here. And they did. Some friends they are."

"They didn't have a choice. I told them to go."

"But if they really cared about you, wouldn't they have tried harder to get you to come with them?"

Alec knew Magnus was trying to twist his mind around his finger, but he wasn't letting that happen. He knew that they cared about him.

"Magnus, stop wasting time talking to the prisoner. I promise I'll let you have fun with him later." Jonathan said, entering the room. Magnus sighed.

"Duty calls." He winked at Alec before leaving with Jonathan. Alec let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding.

It scared him to see Magnus like this. He was so different. But at the same time, he was still Magnus. Even if he wanted to kill him. Hopefully Jonathan wouldn't change his mind about that.

Alec couldn't help think about what would happen once they get Magnus out of here. Once he's himself again. He knew the warlock would feel horrible about anything he did while he was under the potion, even though it wasn't his fault. It was just like with Jace and The Owl.

But for now, all he had to worry about was getting them both out of this alive.

Y'all I am so sorry this chapter is so short and uneventful I'll make it up I have been really busy lately with a lot of things. I'm so sorry. I'll make it up eventually. Thanks for reading, love y'all, bye.
