Tanaka met you pretty early on in the school year with him being a year ahead of you. He properly met you in your family's smoothie and milkshake shop when the team finished practice and decided to stop by to get drinks after their intense training. He found you really cute and couldn't stop staring at you from his table and the majority of his teammates (Noya, Suga, Daichi, Hinata, and Ennoshita) teased him and pressured him to talk to you. He took the initiative and asked you out first and just like Nishinoya he was really extra about it. This son of b really asked you out on a picnic date, got all the food, and settled on a tiny hill at the park as the two of you talked until he spilled out his emotions and how he felt about you. COMFORTING YOU

If someone else was the cause of your issues he won't hesitate to get his ass up and send someone to the hospital. He will protect his lover till the end and you are no exception. If it is about something else like school or family matters he'll be so heartbroken he will pry a little to figure out what's wrong and how to help. He does need help figuring it out since he is as dense as a rock. He'll just be there and offer his ears as you rant about what's on your mind as he straddles you

COMFORTING HIM

It is very easy to tell when Tanaka is upset because he'll let you know. He'll just walk up to you and say,

Tanaka will rant to you for hours talking about his issues as you stroke the top of his head and hug him from behind as he lays in your lap and embrace.
