"You think I can't kill us right now!? "You must've forgot for a second that I still hold all of our lives literally in my hands!"

I gasped getting out of my seat I go to my knees. "Oh my god are you ok?" I was yanked back. "I told you about this prick!" I pulled away. "Darren, it's a female!" I watched his eyes go to the body on the floor and realization hit his face, first it was confusion, then it was anger again. "Get your asses in the car." He said turning to me. "Darren-" He started to grab my purse and pull me towards the door, "Darren!" I said as Amber caught my hand in the midst of Darren half tossing me out the door of the café.
One of the employees followed a couple of steps behind us. "Ma'am, are you okay? Would you like me to call the police?" I feared for him. Darren stopped and turned, letting go of my arm he walked towards the guy. Darren was slightly taller than him, they both seemed to be each others match, but I've seen what Darren has done and can do.
Looking at his name tag Darren gives him a sinister smile. "Mark, is it? Well thank you for the concern but she's fine." Mark gives him a look then he looks at me and Amber then back to Darren. "Doesn't look like it dude, what kind of man treats his lady and kid like that in public? I'm afraid to imagine what you could be doing behind closed doors."
Darren's head tilted, letting me see his jaw tightening. Oh no, I know what that means. He's planning how to lay him out, Mark had officially annoyed him. Grabbing him Darren holds him by his neck pushed up against the café door.
"Darren, don't." I said pushing Amber behind me, I need to stop him before he hurts the poor guy, everyone around me always gets hurt becuase of Darren. "When someone tells you to fuck off nicely, you turn your dumb brave ass around." Mark started gagging for air. "Darren! Let him go!" I yelled punching him in the back.
He held on for a few more seconds then released him. "Get in the fucking car, I won't tell you again. Darren pushes passed me taking Amber's hand, she looked to me, fear in her eyes, I hated seeing that, it broke and shattered my heart, I turned to Mark, the stranger who stepped in to help a woman and child he's never met before.
"Thank you." I said almost choking on the 'K' in Thank. He nodded as he rubbed his neck, I turned to walk off when he spoke. "Ma'am it's not my business but I hope you find the strength to leave one day, not for you, but for your child. Before I can say anything else I was roughly grabbed.
I winced, but it didn't hurt more than Mark's the Stranger's words, someone else telling me what I've been telling myself the first couple of times Darren has promised he'd never hit me again. I turned my head away in shame as Mark helplessly watched me get dragged off. I caught a glimpse of the pity on his face and that was also worse than any hit I've ever taken from Darren.
Darren pushes me into the passenger seat slamming the door, he walks around the front of the car all while glaring at Mark, who seems to still be standing there. He matched Darren's glare as he got in the car starting it then a second later swinging us out of the parking lot and into on going traffic.
Cars stopped or had swerve to keep from hitting us, Darren flew by all of them as we got honked at, I turned to look at Amber to make sure her seatbelt was on. It was, and so were her little hands hanging on for dear life. I mouthed the words "Are you okay?" She nodded eyes wide. I gave her a little smile, hoping to ease her, it did just a little.
I turned to Darren, glaring at him. "The fuck is wrong with you? Are you fucking crazy?! You could've gotten us killed!" He was silent, I heard the acceleration speed up and I realized he's going faster. "You think I still can't let that happen?" He looked at me then back to the road laughing. "You think I can't kill us right now!?" He shouted as the sound of the car going so fast and honks from other drivers started to drown him out. "You must've forgot for a second that I still hold all of our lives literally in my hands!"
I started to shake. "Darren don't do this, slow down." I went to put my hand on his arm but something told me not to. "You know," he said switching lanes three times without a signal. "I thought that lady that I punched was your ex," he said laughing in between words. "I punched a lady confusing her for your ex." He snorted hitting the steering wheel.
I looked at him like he had three heads. "You think punching a lady is funny?" He shrugged. "No different from punching you, thing is, I don't laugh. So yes, punching her was funny." My heart went cold. "You didn't see her face from my point of view," I shook my head and turned to look out the window, watching the tree's and stores zip by in a really fast blur.
"Darren please slow down, and where are we going?" I asked realizing we aren't heading in the direction of home. He didn't answer me but he did slow down, everything started to look familiar, I know where we are, but why?
I sat quiet until he pulled into a driveway almost fifteen minutes later, the little pale blue house and white shingles looked familiar, also made me sick at the same time. "Why...why are we at your moms house?" Turning off the car he looked at me. "I was informed that while I was incarcerated, my mother has had not once chance to see her beloved granddaughter."
I got angry. "Darren, your not even her father, that-" I flung my arm in the direction of his moms house, "-isn't her grandmothers house! It never will be!" He sat and looked at me in silence. "Amber," he said not taking his eyes off me. "Get out and go be with grandma, your going to be here for a little bit."
"No-" I said turning to Amber. "Don't get out of the car," before I can say anything else Ambers side of the door was opened and she was taken out. "Amber!" I screamed as I went to jump out, but I was grabbed by my hair, being pulled back I slam into Darren as he grabs me from under my chin. "Sit the fuck back." He whispered in my ear.
I felt the tears roll down my face as I watched Amber kick and scream as Darren's uncle took her inside, his mother standing on the porch watching everything. Seeing her stand there as she let her son do this to me angered me. "You sick bitch! Fuck you! Don't touch my child!" I screamed as much as I could because of Darren's hand under my chin.
I wasn't expecting what Darren did next, he let go of my hair and I quickly moved to open the door to go grab my daughter, as soon as my hand reached the door handle I felt my head snatch back. "AHHH!" I cried out reaching for my head. "Don't you ever in your fucking life, talk to my mother that way." Then everything went black.
