Something smells delicious.
I think as I open my eyes and sit up in bed. My eyes travel to the empty spot next to me and a frown forms on my face.
"Lijah?" I call but no one answers.

My phone rings on the bedside table and I shake my head, waking myself up from my still sleepy fog.
"Hel-"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Mia vociferously shouts through the phone and I grimace at her over the top voice, moving the phone away from my ear so it doesn't bleed.

"Than-"
"What are you doing today?" She asks cutting my sentence off again. "What do you mean? We planed this since January," I ask, my sleepy expression morphing into a confused one.

"About that," she whispers.
"I talked with Elijah and we had a- um- understanding?" She voices, although it sounds more like a question.

"I'm listening,"

"Well the deal was that he gets to have you today and I get to have you tomorrow,"

"I'm not your kid Mia, you don't need to schedule days to see me. I wish Elijah would get that through his thick scull,"

"I know that Ren, but he called me last night and it sounds like he really wants you alone today." she says in her 'I'm-an-innocent-angel-who-can never-do-wrong' voice.

"Your not saying anything," she says with a smirk in her voice.

"I-uh-um-well, see you tomorrow Mia," I end the call, laughing to myself before making my way down stairs.
"Lijah?" I call. Hearing movement in the kitchen.

I walk inside and frown when I don't see anyone but smile when I see food. The counter is filled with plate after plate of edible goodness and my stomach growls.

"Happy birthday," Elijah whispers, wrapping his arms around me from behind and I melt into his embrace.

"Did you do all this?"

"Sì," he replies, trailing kisses up and down my neck. I moan, grinding into him and he grips my hips to stop my movement.

I pout my lips and he ignores me as he takes my hands and leads me to the kitchen.
"Eat," he instructs and I comply immediately, filling my plate with eggs, pancakes and strawberries and emptying half the syrup over everything.

Even the eggs.

"What?" I question when Elijah looks at me weirdly. He shakes his head and kisses my lips, slowly and seductively before filling his own plate.

"This is really good,"
"Thank you,"
"I'm glad one of us can cook?" I say swallowing my food and licking the syrup from the sides of my lips.

"You can't cook?" He asks with amused look on his face and I glare at him.
"I can make Ramen noodles. Does that count?" He starts laughing and I launch a strawberry at him.

"Hey! My mother never thought me how, okay? YouTube videos can only do so much," I grumble and he gets up from his chair, walking over to me and lifting me up on the counter.

"I'm sorry baby.I didn't mean to make you upset,"
"I'm not upset," I shake my head and grab a strawberry from my plate, bringing it to his lips and watching with wide eyes as he bites into it.

"Delicious," he whispers and my eyes linger on the syrup left on the side of his lip. I grip his hair and bring his head down to mine, running my tongue over the sweet liquid and collecting it in my mouth.

He groans and a shiver racks my body with the overwhelming need to have him.

"Lijah?"

"Baby?"
