Daisy blinked, "What do you mean it's not safe? It's just us, I mean, we can head back to town, prove that your alive, reunite you and your brother... what could possibly happen?"
Luigi's eye was producing a steady stream of tears, but he didn't care to notice. "No, you don't get it... I just don't know how to say it..."
Daisy smiled a little, but he could see that she was growing worried, even if she was making an effort to hide it, "Well, you can take a moment to figure it out, I'll be here when you know what to say."
He shuddered and looked down. He couldn't directly tell her that he was the monster running around and killing people, could he? Daisy would either run away or not believe him, and he didn't like either response. What could he tell her, then? An idea came to him, whispered by a voice he never heard before, one that struck terror into his heart, a fear so chilling he wanted to scream the second he heard it, one that made his heart skip a beat, and made his body feel colder. Even then, the advice he was gifted was sound.
"It's just... what's been going on with me since I was gone..." he sighed. He glanced up, to see the princess appear rather interested. "I... I've been..." Luigi paused. He was forgetting his words, almost like some form of stage fright.
-"It's okay, my love, you know your condition..."-
That demon's voice flowed through his mind, and he felt at ease, even if it was just a moment.
"Seeing things... a lot, recently... hallucinations, I guess you could say, maybe... I mean, I just see things all discoloured... moving unnaturally... shadowy figures even..."
Daisy seemed scared, most likely for him, rather than of him. He couldn't help but to understand, for his mind has become so grim and broken, all that time with nobody to help him, or potentially save him. He sighed, for despite these thoughts, he knew that he most likely couldn't be saved, even with help.
"It doesn't stop there... I've even been... hearing things... not just smaller things like footsteps, but entire voices... it's terrifying, hearing someone only to realize nobody's there, not really. I never got used to it, I don't even think that's possible, but even so... sometimes I feel like I did..."
"And you never went and looked for help?"
"I suppose it didn't occur to me. I mean, it should have, but I haven't been feeling like myself, really. In fact, I've been feeling like I'm more than one person... it's weird, but it's true..."
Daisy began to get closer to him, "Come on, Luigi, we need to get to town. You need help, I don't know what can done about this, but I want to at least try helping you get better..."
He lowered into a more hunched over stance, and a feeling of fear struck him.
>What are you doing! Let me take care of this!
Luigi's eye widened in shock. The last time he heard his own voice in his mind speaking as an alternative, violent form of himself was when he got rid of Rosalina's remains.
>What?! No! You'll just kill her!
>What does it matter?! If you're taken into town you won't get any help! You'll get discovered! WE will get discovered! All of us!
Luigi desperately wanted to argue but he couldn't. He tried to stand, to look Daisy in the eyes, to speak, even, but he couldn't. He moved as if on autopilot, but he tried to take back control. A mad cat smile crept across his face and he began to twitch. He looked up at the scared princess's face, breathing heavily. He managed to force the ability to speak, and for that one moment, he looked so terrified, that he could practically see Daisy's heart sink.
"Run."
He said right before the grin of the Wendigo returned. Before Daisy could react, he swiped at her, his claws cutting open her throat, with a spray of blood covering his body in red specks, and in the moment, he felt alive. The force from the blow sent Daisy down the cliff, the jagged rocks cutting her open everywhere. The stone was painted red as she fell into the salty water, where her pain became agonizing as she screamed out in pain, in a prison of waves where she was sure to drown.
